Three questions:
1) Do you think matchmaking is going to find perfect matches every single game? Queues could last for hours then. The Elo gained and lost is adjusted in these cases, rewarding the team with the lower Elo with more for a win and penalizing them less for a loss.

2) Did you account for yourself in your average Elo calculation? It may be glaringly obvious, but I've seen others on the forums not do this.

3) Were you Blue team? Do note that Riot admits that Blue has a slight win-rate advantage due to map issues, but it is minute. They do take this into account in match-making, though, but they have never said now much it is weighted. It's very possible they just put the better team on Purple every time, regardless of how even the teams actually ended up.

The difference between 1450 is and 1500 is not bad actually. That is a pretty close game you should maybe lose that 55% of the time statistically speaking. That isn't bad odds and in ELO you get more points if you win those types of games. That is what you want if you are better than your ELO to help you climb.
