I hear a lot about how Sion's kit makes no sense whatsoever and has no cohesion at all.

I'd probably have to trust in those opinions with my vote.

From a design perspective, Sion is an absolute cluster**** of what even. He looks like he should be able to go AD or AP, but in practice, you end up with half of one or the other.

Let's analyze his kit.

First, here's all of the great things that Sion has in his kit sorted by what role they would benefit. Some are duplicates because many abilities have multiple uses.

Tanky things:
-Permanent health gained from farming, great for late-game defense
-Stun, decent for ganking
-Passive damage blocking, great for teamfights
-Powerful shield (300 health at rank 5)

Melee AD carry things:
-AD steroid, and a big one - only five AD less than Master Yi's activated Wuju Style
-Point and click stun, good for 1v1's
-Ridiculous lifesteal steroid

Castery things:
-Amazing shield, more than double the ratio on Orianna's Command: Protect
-Easy and safe combo makes it easy to trigger Lich Bane
-Great waveclear potential

Supporty things:
-1.5 second stun, great for holding down enemies
-Passive damage blocking works great against the enemy ADC in early game
-Shield break can help the AD carry clear if you want to push
-Ultimate can heal teammates a lot with some AD

Now, this looks like a champion that can do anything, right? Wrong.

Tanky problems:
People ignore you. After you use your stun, you're done. You don't do anything else if you're just building tanky.

Melee AD carry problems:
You can't build Black Cleaver effectively. Goodbye.

Caster problems:
You have a crapton of free lifesteal and attack damage that you're wasting.

Support problems:
How are you supposed to get health without farming?
