Prioritize not by length but by CC type from hardest to softest, i.e: all the way down to slow, depending on the actions you cannot take.

suppress > charm> stun> fear/terror> root > silence and slow

The last two are switched and Charm through terror are combined. Charm should be ahead of stun because it typically makes you walk back into the danger zone which are extra steps that need to be reversed after the charm drops which stun does not apply. Fear and Terror do not give directional control and are random in that way so are less threatening then the predictability of a charm or stun. Silence and slow share space as the last things to be displayed when every other effect is NOT present on the target. This priority list would be more realistic as to what can get you killed. Slows tend to be far less dangerous then a root mainly because even slow movement early on gives you some progress toward you tower and relative safety but root is a full stop.

This is game changing over alot of games and not just this one. If the progress bar SHOWED a green bar next to the white bar of the stun which gave a player some sense of how much extra time they are getting from Tenacity it could give players a better idea of when to buy tenacity and when something else is a better buy.

A bit late, but a friend of mine describes suppression to new players as an effect to the summoner, rather than the champion. Maybe a summoner tied down by chains can be a good image?

I also have the idea of showing your summoner in a corner of the screen. A tad over the top, I know, but maybe that could be a way to show cc. Frost at the feet for slows, roots for snares, stuff like that. Just a little fantasy of mine I've had since I've seen the Cinematic Trailers.

aside from the CC discussion (which is great btw)

what about some UI changes to help facilitate activaed items?

For example, have 3 open slots on the center bar (with the other skills) for items. You guys can take out the B button (or make it optional, no one except new players look at that).

I always end up forgetting I have certain items because I always look at the center of the screen (naturally the eyes would focus on the center, including the bottom center where the abilities are conveniently located)

I like the idea of a UI improvement that gives information about CC, maybe it could also include something noticeable for high-impact spells on you like

Yorick's Ult
Zilean's Ult

While things like Lulu's Wild Growth are very recognizable, and the effects are instant, these are counter-intuitive to what a player is trying to do. (Namely Live, when they most likely should be trying to die)

I'd like the ability to lock the camera onto a different player / location, similar to spectator mode but in a regular game. Maybe mousing over the person and pressing a hotkey (L, for example) would lock the camera onto them with a little lock icon appearing on the mouseover, confirming that you want to lock the camera on them.

It could unlock in the same way the regular camera unlocks. Similarly, having a camera lock for a location, also applied by a hotkey.

Someone else has probably suggested this and I'm too lazy to search, but, way back in the days of WoW when arena wasn't awful we used to run an addon called plate buffs that everyone loved. It would put important buffs/debuffs on nameplates, iconized with a duration timer over them. (like this, but underneath and smaller and should only show important things)

This would also make it a lot easier to not overlap CC. Not sure how well this would work with 10 players on top of each other, though.

Having a sort of 3D display of your character with active effects on them would be interesting....think along the lines of World of Tanks, where you can see your tank, the hp of the tank, and then damage to specific people/vehicle components.

What if my previous idea gets modified into a series of darkened symbols just above the caster UI (Q, W, E, R, D and F indicators)? Then when one of them is active, it will light up with that icon and a status bar appears above it, showing you how much time you have for that effect to happen?

Or what if the icon in of itself is the status bar, decreasing in visibility from top to bottom?
Boy, I wish I wasn't at work when I think on things like this, a bit hard to mspaint out an idea while having to be an engineer -_-

I like this idea the best. It is near the action and not so congested it's hard to understand.

That is my biggest issue with the UI coming from a raid healer in WoW.
This! being able to change the UI without resorting to third party programs and maybe changing the recommended items for the ones you want to actually use.
