Ninjas were farmers. They used farmtools as their weapons. Why would they have shields on their farm?

Also, alot of people would consider both of those to be more on the feminine side than masculine.

Most american males think "Big, heavy suit of armor, and huge sword and shield tank" is masculine. So why use the term "real men blahblahblah"?

Shields were incredibly useful for large-scale infantry warfare.

Ninjas and Samurai are much more accustomed to small fights, and geurilla warfare tactics, because they don't need to worry about everything and their mother being tossed at them from all angles including the sky.

Also, I bring unto you a quote. "Someones defense is at it's weakest point when they're thinking offense." The best defense is not a good offense.
One big misconception that people still believe is that: Samurai didn't wear shields.

That's false. They did wear shields, it's just most samurais just strenghtened their armor so they didn't have to wear one, those big gauntlets with what appears too look like shoulder/thigh protectors on them are an example. One handed spears were fine with shields, and so were mounted samurais.

Point me to a source where samurais wear shields. Also the last attachment you have is someone using a European sword. Japanese swords don't have that kind of hilt and blade. And it's a fan art so it's not correct. Mounted Samurais uses the yumi and matchlock as their weapons. Strengthened armors don't count as shields that the OP is asking for.

That last one was uploaded by mistake, also, I am the OP lol, look at the name...

And you're right, strengthened armor doesn't count as shields, I was just saying that was their alternative when they weren't wearing shields.
The Japanese did use shields early on in their history. With the rise of the samurai, these were dropped in favor of equipment more suited to mounted archers. However, the second part of this is they DID use shields afterwards in the form of pavises and other sorts of things (not handheld). Third, during the Imjin War, they again encountered shields as used by the Koreans and the Chinese.. But they seem to have simply decided that shields weren't worth the protection they afforded, and tended to prefer long, two-handed spears. This isn't to say that no shields were used whatsoever, but if there were it was a rare occurrence. At least, rare enough that nobody seems to have mentioned it as far as I know.
Interestingly, at least one school of martial arts teaches the use of the jingasa (metal hat) as a shield in some of their more obscure kata... However, that sort of thing is to be taken with a grain of salt.

You should read "Early Samurai 200-1500 AD by Anthony J Bryant", it's even used as a source in the link below.

Did samurai, chinese or korean warriors ever use shields?
