Twisted Fate backed up trying to maintain a distance from the beetle, after he was unable to determine if the card had any effect on it. Range was his greatest advantage, and he was going to abuse it as much as he could. Twisted Fate looked back at his hand. There was still the magician...and it normally would represent those who wielded fire magic quite well. Then there was Strength, which spoke for itself. Twisted Fate smiled as he stacked the tarot card of the Magician and Strength on top of one another. He threw this card with all of his strength and mid-lfight it caught fire. Furthermore, the strength card glowed adding speed and power to the tarot card of the magican. Hopefully this card would register some sort of effect.

The beetle blinks at Twisted Fate threw the two cards, which quickly speed up and caught aflame. But instead of trying to evade the attack, it merely lowered it's horn to the ground and waited. Once the two cards got close it would suddenly raise it back upwards, creating a pillar of ice. The frost beetle would then begin slowly lifting off the ground, the mist following it into the air.

Twisted Fate watched the pillar of ice rise from the ground, and stopped his card...cold. Okay so fire wasn't the answer. It would just freeze the lake, so what was this thing's weakness? Perhaps it had a weakness when it was about to attack? There were allot of variables to consider, and it seems Destiny was telling him there was but one way to find out. He drew three more cards: The first card that had numerous blades on it, as well as the number 10. The following card was the tarot card of the Lovers, and finally the Queen of hearts. The Cardmaster decided to offer a little banter while he waited for the beetle to make its move, "How do ya’ expect to satisfy the ladies if ya’ don’t come out of your cold shell?”

The beetle responds by forming several icicles in the air, draining most of the mist surrounding it in the process. It would then angle them downwards, pointed at Twisted Fate and most directions he could evade to. "I think I manage." It would then pull back in the air before quickly moving a short distance forward, sending the icicles to their intended locations.

Twisted Fate watched every move very carefully. The mist seemed to disappear when it attacked...maybe that was the sign he was looking for. However, he had an issue to deal with first and that was the barrage of sharp icicles approaching him. His skill known stacked deck was up, and he did have a card that would help. Twisted Fate threw the 10 of Blades toward the middle icicle. Upon impact the icicle it hit shattered, and the card exploded into 9 seperate blades that sought out an icicle. Two of the nine blades charged straight at the beetle while the other seven dealt with the icicles.

......or so he thought as one icicle was still coming at him, and Twisted Fate could not fully evade the icicle. He it cut a gash into his left shoulder, it seems his pauldron did not fully protect him this time around. He would have to heal that later, and he looked to see if the two blades he diverted to attack the beetle had any effect whatsoever.

The beetle floats lower in an attempt to evade the blades, getting them both embedded in the plate protecting it's left wing. Dropping back down the ground, the mist begins reforming as the beetle tosses to and fro, trying to dislodge the blade. It could hardly fly with extra weight, though it could still likely handle it's own on the ground.

It seems as though Twisted Fate was correct. The mist acted like a defensive aura that perhaps light weight stuff could not get through, or the beetle created ice to stop it. Issue is Twisted Fate did not have much heavy weight stuff that would work for him. He had the cards of blades, metal cards, and maybe a few other cards that would work in a pinch.

The Cardmaster drew a a card to see if he could have more options, and an idea struck him. Twisted Fate enchanted the "throw-away" cards and tossed them at the beetle. Of course this was all a distraction for his the real threat. He put the tarot card of justice and lovers together and stood still for a moment channeling his energy to create...a weapon that perhaps his foe would not expect.
