They are hard to kill, yes. Will people focus them when they blow their abilities and they just waddle around while auto-attack everyone? Not very likely. The other team would more than likely start to focus the carries, rendering your tank absolutely useless in terms of what he's supposed to be doing - SAVING the carries. Amumu, Rammus, Shen all come to mind when it comes to worthwhile disables to become a necessary tank.

P.S. Malphite isn't a good tank. He has an initiating ult. Medium range, AoE, piss damage, and that's all he has.... On a long ass timer. Good job.

get alistar
get chalice
get 40 CDR
get armor/mdef
enjoy beeing an annoying bull who stuns 2-3 enemies every 7 seconds (or 8), can survive vs 5 ppl with his ult, and push towers very early (at lvl 6 you should be downing a turret). Its not surprising to be getting 23+ asists per game

all of this being one of the most UP champs on the game

A tanks jobs can and does vary depending on the champion, but generally they are some combination of the following:

-Initiate the team fight. Flash in and Galio ult, Rammus Powerball in, or Shen Taunt in are just a few examples.

-Provide openings. Create situations your team can take advantage of. Stun that Warwick so your team can focus him, throw that Twitch into your team, and so on.

-Soak up as much of the enemy teams damage as possible. Build Armor or MR depending on the enemy comp and try to get them to focus you as much as possible through positioning, use of champion spells, baiting and so on. The more damage you take the less damage your carries are taking

-Eat the enemy team's CC. Give the enemy a reason to blow their stuns/silences/snares on you or intercept skill shots like Morgana's. A great tank for this is Nunu, as his ult make the enemy team focus and blow their cc on him in panic.

-Protect your carries. How varies depending on the champion. For example, as Allistar headbutt away that dangerous melee and pulverize to protect your carries. Also, many tanks are graphically large (Allistar, Cho'gath, Nasus ulted etc.) and can just sit on top of their carries making them untargettable (this works especially well with champion combinations like Allistar and Annie).

-Get Oracles. You are the tank and therefore should be the hardest to kill. This means despite your best efforts to be suicidal you will die less than your teammates. Therefore it is only logical for you to grab the Oracles when needed versus your squishies doing so.

-Buying Wards. Some people argue buying wards is either the jungle or the tanks role. It really depends on your team and your champion. Some tanks can tank well with limited and easy to get items, meaning you should grab wards. Others need every bit of gold spent on items meaning you should focus on those items instead. Communicate with your team on this matter.

Lots of champions can be classified as tanks, but ultimately the best tanks are the ones that fulfill the greatest number of these functions.

Some good tanks (in no particular order) are Amumu, Rammus, Shen, Cho'gath, Allistar, Garen, Galio, Warwick if built right, Singed and Nunu (as my personal favorite, though very hard to master).

Lastly, don't be afraid to die for your team, your objective is not to get kills but to get your team kills while preventing their deaths (with the possible exception of a tank like Garen who gets focused because he is such a threat).

Just build mitigation (no not sunfire stacking, look at enemy team comp), and get a good initiation champ (malphite) and get clairvoyance.

people have a tendency to **** themselves and right click furiously when they see this behemoth of rock fly out of fog of war and just knock up their entire team. you don't really need taunt as a skill in this game, majority of people in this game are idiots, evident of all the leavers, afkers, ragers. that's all i have to say lol good luck
