This is more of a question then anything else and if there is somewhere better to post this please let me know.

The question I had is...

Why is there such a large gap in pricing between 1350ip and 3150ip which is a gap of 1800

I am comparing this to the other gaps, like the one between 3150 and 4800 which is only 1650 and the gap between 4800 and 6300 is only 1500, then there is the gap between 450 and 1350 which is only 900.

All the factoring in you would expect the largest gap to be between the highest and second highest prices.

Why not have the gaps follow from lowest to highest. 900 --> 1500 -->1650 --> 1800

Or in other words.
the ip prices would be

450
1350
2850
4500
6300

Or you could make a new tier for prices the 2250 tier

so the ip prices would stay the same with the addition of 2250 and the spacing between champs is a little more even.

2250 champs could be made up of the least played champions out of the 3150 group.

Just wondering.

I'd be perfectly happy with the 3150 price point, but I cant remember the last time there was a champ released that wasnt 6300... Trundle? Its got to have been at least a year.

Well I am not saying that all the 3150 champs have to be change in price rank, that was just an idea. I was mainly wondering why they did not have a rank between 1350 and 3150. I mean I could think of a few champions that could be placed into a 2250 such as Karma or Heimerdinger, two perfectly strong but underplayed champions that would benefit from be on a easier to reach price tier.

Part of it is that the 4,800 IP price point is the relative "odd man out." Hardly any champions were ever introduced at that price, and hence the bulk of champions you see there... Were 6,300 IP champions cut to that price.

Hence when you look at it, the pattern makes a lot more sense: 450->1,350->3,150->6,300; it's both a 900->2,600->3,150 increase, as well as being the INVERSE order for percentile increases: +200% -> +133% -> +100%.

Why yes I did know that about the 4800 point but I also think that it makes the gap between 1350 and 3150 to big still, they either need to do away with the 4800 tier and just downgrade champions to 3150 or they need to add a fifth price tier for the under played and under powered champions in the 3150 tier that is still more then 1350.

Here are some fun facts that I can tell you, I personally played through these myself, on my first account.

Champion IP costs have been reduced periodically via patches since April 12, 2011. To date a grand total of 45750 IP has been reduced.

Did you know that...
The first champions to ever have a price reduction was on April 12, 2011

They were
Malphite's IP cost was lowered to 1350 IP from 3150.
Morgana's IP cost was lowered to 1350 IP from 3150.
Ryze's IP cost was lowered to 450 IP from 1350.

Also the first time the 4800ip tier was made was on February 28, 2012
When they lowered
Irelia's and Miss Fortune's IP cost to 4800 IP from 6300.
The only reason that their prices and all other former 6300 champions was that riot didn't
A) think that they were getting enough sales at that price.
and
B) that they were not equal in strength to the other champions at the same price tier.

My point behind bring these fun facts up is that I think they should utilize that same tactic for the 3150 tier, they start picking out champions that aren't being...

A) Bought enough at that level
and/or
B) Not on the same level of strength as the other champions of that level.

Which would give some champions some much needed publicity in the market by making them more easily affordable. I mean ask yourself, if you played support would you grab Karma over Lux or Sona at 3150, most likely not (This is of course acting as if you didn't own any support champions 3150 or over) you would get the tried and tested true champions over a little odd ball like Karma. But now lets say that they made this fifth price tier and Karma was in it, I am willing to bet that, while not drastically, you would in fact see a increase in Karma players. Same would be true for Heimerdinger, also if you added Gargas he would be played more as well.

These are my just my thoughts. ^.^
