As you can tell from this whole "Freljord thing," Trundle remake, and LuxxEzreal, Riot doesn't give a **** about the old lore.

Don't forget Warwick, and how Singed lore doesn't even make sense anymore.

It's like Riot is envious of their former lore work (done by people that left the company, I presume), and is set on a crusade to destroy it.

They can't create new lore on par with their old lore, so they had to lower the standards.

Old lore was an awful mess. "They changed it now it sucks"

Old lore wasn't bad on a champ by champ basis, but their world made almost no sense. Now they just need to bring them all into one universe and it'll at least be headed in a decent direction. (Looking at you Taric, Kayle & Morgana)

By placing champions in countries, when they weren't citizens before it weakens the League itself. The number of champions who take residence in it are slowly dwindling. Kind of odd considering it's meant to be a neutral power made to prevent conflict.

What saddens me the most is that all of this was a chance to move the lore forwards. Instead the moved it sideways at best, and backwards at worst. Then again the Freljord event isn't over yet, so maybe there will be progress.

The basic argument goes like this. Why did Udyr have to be from Freljord in order to support Sejuani? Look at Udyr's ideals. They match up just fine with Sejuani. That didn't change with the lore rework. Demacia sent Quin to investigate, maybe Ionia sent Lee Sin and Udyr to go. That would cement the Lee Sin trained Udyr thing. Then, while there, Udyr felt an intense bond to Sejuani, and a primal fear of Lissandra, and stuck around, choosing to side with the winter's claw.

That's moving the lore forward. Now you have new relationships in the league, and a more in depth look at Udyr's character. He's more than a backstory. You learn more about what he does outside of the league. His story moves forward.

The retcon moved his lore backwards. Now we know less about Udyr, some of what we know is wrong, and in some points his lore straight doesn't make sense. The ideal of controlling his feral strength goes exactly against Sejuani's ideals. Does she have a problem with Lee Sin? This is the sort of thing that could have been explained if Udyr started Freljordian and moved him forward into Ionia. Instead they moved him backwards.

Same with trundle. There's no reason he had to be from Freljord to side with Lissandra. None. On his quest to cure his disease, Ashe advised he visit Lissandra. Trundle plans to get just enough immortality to cure the disease betray Lissandra and fix things? (Oh hey look that's way more cunning than his current lore).

They didn't even have to move Lokfar. Winter's Claw had just become a home-away-from-home for Olaf, as it was the closest thing to Lokfar on Valoran.

Instead, we got this. It's just saddening.

Trundle doesn't want a cure and if he wanted to rid himself of the curse he could've done it before he even joined the League, it was offered to him.

To be fair, I don't know trundle's old lore well, and I can't find it anymore.
