Want me to hit "Punish" on your case? Just say one of these words!

dear easily offended 13 year old,

i am very upset that you did not block out the word RAPE in your quote. rape is a very traumatic experience felt by an extremely large population of the world and i would kindly ask that you put it on the same level of offense as calling someone a ****er or a ******.

sincerely

Except there is no word that is used in a purely racist, homophobic or sexist way. You are looking only at the commonly used words rather than their context and usage. A word itself does not convey a message, it is the context of the word that gives it its meaning.

The context seems simple to me. The person was reported. Was the message offensive? Obviously yes. Did that offense violate the Summoners Code? Yes. Punish? Yes.

See, there's a bunch of bigots who find this **** acceptable, but they don't matter. Someone was obviously offended, so the context was offensive.

I think this sums it up best.

To all of you who say that I shouldn't impose my political views onto the Tribunal, TOUGH. I'm not imposing political views, I'm calling things as I see them from standard life experience. If I can get by without using these words, and I can win games, and I can make it through daily life without offending a particular group of people because I'm casually using a word that is meant to deride them, you can do the same.

The exception situations that people have attempted to provide, as well, are also absolute half-baked, tissue-paper-thin rebuttals that you all know perfectly well are invalid. You can say what you want about my judgment...but if what you want to say falls under the category of what I deem punishable offenses, and you say them in a game, and you get reported, and I end up seeing that case...you'll know why I hit "punish."

That is all.

Agreed with OP.

I also insta punish death threats, suicide pressure and anything related to the fact that someone should uninstall the game.

The word Noob, when used more than 3 times is also a punish for me. Or if the only thing you've said in the game is noob, its a punish.

There's constructive ways to provide feedback to some player regarding the way they play, and saying ''YUR NOOB'' wont make a player better, neither does it enhance his gaming experience.

Hey OP, why do you have to act like a defective love making cigarette that is used as a garden implement?

You should be careful with your judgement, or we will have to force some judgement on you.

EDIT: Just to clarify read the below.

Words are vehicles of ideas. They are representations, not the actual thing. It is perfectly possible to use an offensive word in a non-offensive way. It is also equally possible to be incredibly offensive without the use of an offensive word.

Now, read what I said again......

If one is going to make PSA about words of hate, go ahead and do it. However, please try to refrain from ego stroking circle jerk rants about the people you punish. A good community is the place where you find your pride, not the grounds of executions.

That isn't how it works. People can take offense to any random, stupid thing. People might take offense to you stating you are eating a turkey sandwich because meat is murder.

Being offensive doesn't simply mean that you have offended people, it means that you intended to offend.

See, here's the thing. "N*gger" is not a word that people should have ANY DOUBTS can be offensive. Nor is "f*ggot." Nor is "p*ssy."

You say there are some very small number of contexts where they are not offensive. Cool beans. Someone reported the person, so THIS CASE IS NOT ONE OF THEM.

Autopunish. If you don't like it, stop getting yourself in front of the Tribunal, and stop trying to argue some weird semantic game that totally explains why when you said "you n***** noobs suck my d*** you p***y f*****s" you really weren't trying to be offensive.
