There is no ultimate "best champion" for 1v1. It really depends on what champion you're going to be facing off against but for the most part, bruisers work best out of all the choices in 1v1 situations.

Also, Malzahar if the enemy doesn't know to buy QSS.

People who are incorrect:

Trynd: no. If you think he is the king of 1v1, you're either new here, or fail to understand things. He's had severe issues with his kit for awhile now, and a lot of the other bruisers can just exploit those weaknesses.

Darius: no, his kit is flawed and is easily taken down in a 1v1 situation where he can't rely on the rest of his team making up for his deficiencies.

Fiora/Yi Easily countered with items, let alone summoner spells. Yi is better than fiora because at least he can disengage if needed

WW same as yi and fiora, more easily countered with item build

Shaco (or any assassin really): no, any bruiser takes down shaco without even trying. Bruisers are built to take down assassins and RADC's (except Darius, his kit doesn't allow him to handle kiting). Anyone who thinks their assassin can take down a bruiser 1v1 is probably used to being fed more than the bruiser. On equal footing, a bruiser wins.

Sion: too slow, no mobility. watch what he builds (AP/AD) and counter. AP Sion? Eat his shield and keep going. AD Sion, use your escape when he ults (it's faily obviouse) and come back 25 seconds later. On equal footing, he can't take you while under your tower even with his ult up, so there's no way for him to gain on you.

Jax, Jayce, Shyvana, Morde (cuz it's 1v1 he doesn't have to worry aobut being jumped) Vayne are all pretty solid for a blind pick scenario, most other champs are easier to counterpick, though these can be too.

If after a 2 sec stun + 6 seconds of true damage the fight is still in their favor she can run away and use her ult to heal her and damage the enemy. By then her stun will be up soon with hiten style soon to follow so she can engage again more than likely win the fight.

1v1 shes not only one of the best if not the best champ but she EVEN BETTER in team fights.
Like every other suggestion on this thread, it really depends on how the champs are geared. When I play skarner I rarely fear Irelia unless she is 3 or 4 kills ahead of me. But true equal duels are quite rare in this game, so I'm not really sure why people ask about them so often.

Are we talking full builds? Or just straight up?

Leblanc is the ultimate dueling champion if we're talking no items. Melee can't chase her, just about every caster cannot deal with her. Her high base values and rapid combos require a certain item combination to deal with her, so if we take items completely out of the equation, Leblanc cannot be beat in, I would estimate, about 103/108 of the possible match ups.

Jax is the King of 1 vs 1 his Ultimate is very strong.

Other nearly unbeatable champ on 1 vs 1 is a good farmed Nasus, a killer CC, big lifesteal damage, armor reducing spell, and a strong one spell target.

Zilean: He farms/pushes well, and can kite you all day with his massive speed. Revive can even counter nocturne or TF's ult. So you won't kill him.

Of course, he won't kill you much either, but he will force you back to base alot and can use that time and his speed to keep all the lanes pushes. Your only hope is to get a lucky ambush with an extra sticky champ, or ignore him and push mid down as fast as possible.

Depends on teh scenario, If you can poke ahead of time, it's all about skill. Basically 1v1 IS Top lane. If a champion does good early-game in top lane - use them.

Assuming you mean 1v1 start to finish, on proving grounds - I'd say Yorick, or Cho. If you mean 1v1 dominion, no towers, no minions - Irelia, Fiora, Jayce, Jax, Garen, Mundo come to mind. Any other mode - take out Fiora(countered hardcore by Thornmail, Health, and Magic Pen)
