I'm no specialist on champion balance but I'd like to ask one little question on what you rioters think about Kog's balance, and I'd be much happier with my main champion if I knew whether you rioters thought he's balanced (if you said so I'd believe it, you're the professionals) or you know about his issues and plan to fix them in the future.
Kog, when played mid, is the same as Vel'koz; an AP long range void caster who favors damage over mobility. However, in those defining aspects, Vel is simply stronger than kog:
-Vel can pull off his full combo much faster with his low cast times and quick animations. Kog feels clumsy and slow.
-Vel's mana costs are low enough so he can poke decently and not run out of mana. Kog is always hungry. Hunger never sleeps, mhooo, so empty. hehe.
-Vel got an AOE hard crowd control, while Kog is like, free farm to high mobility assassins. I know they're supposed to counter Vel and Kog, but Vel stands a chance. Also he has more MS.
-Vel can kite quite effectively, Kog can only stop, turn around and vomit ooze once every a lot of seconds.
-You're thinking about nerfing lich bane AND lowering Kog's AP ratio on Q on pbe.
-Vel has a decent base damage so he can make a difference when he's behind. Kog got better scaling, but when he's behind he can... um.. use his passive. (which means feed more)
-Kog's passive!! Come on, it's so very frustrating to have a passive you can only use when you die. Nobody wants to die with that cute little void worm. (Same for zyra, but she isn't cute so you can kill her as much as you want)
-Kog's autoattack has lower damage and slower animations, so he sucks at farming, while Vel's auto is kinda perfect for farming and everything.
After level 6 Kog has long range poke potential which Vel doesn't, but that's it. When I pick Kog'Maw mid I expect to be crushed in lane, use my passive a lot (if you know what I mean) and try to get fed until the late late game, because then I can do something and be a presence in the game. Kog does nothing without items, but once he grabs a few he can play his caster role pretty well, even though he has almost only damage. (Nothing Vel'koz Can't do better though. Yes I'm jelly >:c )
Please let me know what you think about it.
Oh, and one more question; Have you considered making it possible to keep kog's W permanently active with 40% cooldown reduction, like kayle's E?
