What I don't understand is; why is it that players have more of a feel to look at the chat instead of looking at the map?
Players get mad over another lane not calling mia's, but what do you say about when the jungler comes to gank your lane? -"OMG PLZ CALL MIA ON THE JUNGLER"
Wards are only 75 gold and map awareness doesn't have a price.
Why get mad at another lane for you mishaps?

People don't like taking responsibility for their actions, especially competitive kids in an online game across great distances.

Why is it that mid lane never wards their lane?
Why is it that when you're support and you go off for maybe 3 seconds to ward the river, your carry thinks it's a good idea to try to fight their Vayne/Alistar?
Why is it that when you ping your carry to go back because you can clearly see an incoming gank (thanks to that ward you placed earlier), they stay in lane and die and blame you for not giving them a shield?
Why is it that the jungler is at fault when top has been ganked while pushing 4 times without a ward?

True, also people like looking at chat more cuz everyone likes to join in a good argument. Alot of people could just choose not to respond, but no one does :3

One question, how are the other lanes supposed to know if your lane went back to buy or is ganking? Only you know because it is YOUR lane to WATCH. An early MIA can set up for a counter gank with your jungler with in turn puts your team ahead. Sure a ward is nice and will save you if you have any map awareness BUT if you call mia it helps your team set up other things then retreating. If they were in a fight and your lane comes in to join, sure they passed the ward but if your teammate(s) turn and run that is free damage and will probably end up getting tower dived by your lane.

mia's help, sometimes your lanes might be too focused on last hitting or dodging skill shots to notice everything that is going on in other lanes. and actually calling out the junglers position is a huge advantage to your team if you happen to see him or know where he is

if you can't see the value in mia's then you probably won't be making it too far in a team game

Call MIA's. You have vastly more info on your lane than anyone else and are already expending the effort to analyse that info. You should have a fair idea of your enemy's playing habits and be able to judge if they have B'd, hiding in a bush/deeper in the lane, warding or off to gank. It's much more effective to glance at the chat for 3 letters when it changes than it is to study the mini-map then trying to discern what the enemy is doing based on that.

You have an entire laning phase worth of info to judge on, they have if anyone can see them, and where were they last seen (if they happened to be looking at the mini map then; I will normally try to exit the lane at the same place no matter what I'm doing, so against me they would have "Can we see him?" and that's it)

And then the question comes again; why decide to look at the chat instead of the map?

As someone said "mia's help, sometimes your lanes might be too focused on last hitting or dodging skill shots to notice everything that is going on in other lanes". Seeing how the chat pops up when something happens and/or someone talks it is a lot more noticeable. What is so hard about typing in 3 letters to help other people? If it is such a big problem because they don't look at the map, you can't type 3 letters to help prevent your team from dying?

If the case was about typing MIA being hard then, why is it harder to look right of your screen than it is to look left?
