Answered multiple times already.

Usually if you have 1800 health or if you have 2200 health on range ADC/mage is huge difference, especially if you get some armor/magic res. Resistances are good, but you still need that health to make good use of them.
Healing, Flat HP/regen scale positively with resists and not with max HP.

In addition, resists negatively scale enemy lifesteal/spellvamp whereas HP does not.

The only big positive that maxHP has going for it is that it is the only thing in the game that counters flat true damage. Generally speaking, when comparing Resists and Max HP that give equivalent amounts of EHP, the resists will always be better.

Some melee ad champions can farm minions easily, and some are forced to slowly auto-attack. Kind of a downer when an ap can just 1shot a whole lane late-game.

I think this change is really helpful for those ad champs that have trouble 1shotting creep waves, as well as adding an extra form of burst for ad casters.

Riot, please release these items before I go into awesomeness withdrawal!

I know it. You completely missed my question.

Xypherous said few times, that some items were giving health with other good statistics for range ADC/mage but you were discourage from buying them, because "health was useless late game".

I don't get it. Let's say I have 1800 at level 18. I have only some armor/magic resistance (50-70), so I reduce damage for around 40%

Someone is trying to burst me for total 1500 damage in 1vs1, I'll get down to 900. I survived but lost half my health. I'll just die with second rotation if I won't run/kill my enemy.

Now I have 2200 health and again damaged for 1500. I survived, but this time I have 1300 and I'm still in good shape. In order to kill me, enemy must use at least 1 more rotation and and additional 2-3 skills.

The same applies to auto-attack AD champions. If I'm not going tank, so I have tones of resistances and cos I'm range ADC/Mage I don't make health regeneration, unless I won't make some health, I can't really tank too much attacks.

I'm playing almost exclusively dominion for some time so I can't look at some things different, but still, I don't think any bonus health is wasted stat and I like any item that gives me some.

*sigh*

Try to UNDERSTAND what I said instead of just reading it.

Both Resists and HP give one thing in two different ways. Effective HP. EHP is the amount of unmitigated damage of a certain type you could take before you die.

Resists cause healing and shielding effects (INCLUDING LIFESTEAL/SPELLVAMP) to increase EHP by more. Max HP does not. Resists decrease the enemy's EHP gain from Lifesteal/Spellvamp via reducing the amount of damage they deal. Maximum HP does not. When Resists and HP have equivalent costs and amount to the same EHP bonus, Resists will always be better.

Max HP isn't useless late game. It's simply comparatively undertuned, as it's designed to give similar EHP at similar prices to resists, when it needs to be worth more as it's functionally weaker.

@Xypherous,

Since it works with GP Q, what about Panth Q and E? Thanks!

On-hit effects.

READ UP.

Once you've read up, add this knowledge. Tiamat's On-hit effect may only be procced on separate targets once every .05 seconds (I.e. attacks that hit multiple targets at the same exact time, Shyvana's Q, will only proc it the number of times you attack a single target).

Something just occurred to me. Ravenous Hydra will be the third highest AD value item in the game after BT and IE.

Is that much power something we want to put on what should be a utility item?

Maw of Malmortius and SotO.

That being said, true melee AD need some serious help. This is exactly a way to do it.

Continuing from my initial discussion [url2="http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?p=31152189"]here[/url2] of upcoming itemization changes for the preseason, I’d like to talk about a current item to which we’re making changes, as well as its new and exciting upgrade.

It’s Tuesday. You know what’s coming.

For a very long time, Tiamat has been sitting in this quasi-state of ‘Is this a good item? Is this a terrible item?’ No longer. We’ve cleaned up Tiamat to be far more streamlined in the new item set, giving it a larger cleave range (at the cost of reduced damage near the edge) and greater synergy with other items by removing the restriction of dealing damage based on the damage of the original attack.

So what’s different?

1. It has a Unique Passive. Tiamats no longer stack to form odd cases where you deal more damage to a secondary target than the primary target.
2. Tiamat no longer cares about the damage you deal with your main attack; thus, Tiamat procs don’t need you to itemize heavy critical strike in order to take advantage of dealing crazy damage. You will always deal a set amount of splash damage based on your Attack Damage.
3. It has a short-cooldown active that allows you to perform a stronger version of the passive Cleave at any time.
4. It is Melee Only, meaning it is no longer a trap item on ranged characters. The active and passive components will literally turn off and be unusable for ranged characters, with the same effect kicking in for dual form characters such as Jayce or Nidalee when they’re in ranged form.
5. It has a much larger cleave radius, at the expense of damage falloff.
6. It no longer has mana regeneration.
7. It has an upgrade.

Let’s examine how this might affect your use of Tiamat:

1. It lets you clear minion waves more quickly

Having a larger passive cleave and an active cleave allows melee fighters or carries who pick up Tiamat to farm waves more efficiently, granting decent wave-clear ability to characters who lack it. Characters like Poppy, for example, can now clear a wave with Tiamat in a relatively short amount of time through a combination of passive and active procs.

2. It makes your burst combo more flexible

Having the active Crescent ability means an additional AoE physical spell that you can weave in to your burst combos. A Riven, for example, might take the time to use the Crescent active in between her dashes – while a Fiora would want to use Crescent as soon as she descends upon a target with Lunge.

3. It can be used effectively by a wider variety of characters and be useful in more situations

Being built out of high Health Regeneration and Attack Damage gives Tiamat a very smooth build up path for the early game. With the ability to itemize both heavy regeneration and attack damage early in the game you can gain a very strong staying presence in lane.

The Upgrade

Introducing Ravenous Hydra, a life steal upgrade for Tiamat. While it doesn’t enhance any of the damaging aspects of Tiamat, Ravenous Hydra allows you to drain from surrounding enemies via your life steal statistic. This can grant melee fighters incredible staying power when outnumbered or assaulting the front lines. While Hydra won’t decimate teams on its own without a huge amount of Attack Damage, the combination of the active ability and life steal will allow experienced players to gain a burst of healing by using Crescent to attack and drain multiple enemy champions.

But wait! I’m a Ranged Carry type of player. What do I get in order to do AoE damage?

Stay Tuned.

Hey Xypheropus i dont know if you saw my thread about Tiamat a while ago but anyway this is actually a great solution. Does it mean i can play AD diana? Yeah i know it sounds weird but i wanted to try it because of her skillset. Plus Double crescent splash.
