Oracle's extract is significantly less than 1100 gold.

Will Tiamats finally die? Or be reworked into something useful?

What are you doing to help Burst casters against tanks like Singed, Irelia, Cho'gath, Malphite. Who can't actually dent these champions in a team fight and in a 1v1 situation as carries will always lose to the tank. Essentially Burst carries suck vs tanks, when carries should be able to 1v1 tanks but can't. ADC and sustained damage casters can easily deal with these champs. Burst casters like Annie, Syndra, Brand and Veigar can't.

What about champions who are completely early game based as well. Lee, Xin, Volibear who if they don't get that early advantage are useless all game. Any plans to help them scale into late game that isn't completely reliant on getting 3+ kills in lane phase?

Hey guys,

Iím Xypherous, a Technical Designer here at Riot Games. Iíve been working a bit on the goals for itemization changes as we head into the preseason, focusing mostly on specialization, player self-expression, and adding new gameplay patterns in the game. We wanted to fix a lot of the existing problems that players have with items and try to add more depth in terms of itemization. Let me go over the major goals we have for the preseason item changes:

Clean up / Reworks

We have some items that need a lot of love and some items that simply donít have a place in the current framework in the game. We either made these items relevant for a specific purpose or removed them if they were too problematic to balance. Some super-niche or narrow-scope items have been remade to work on a greater variety of champions.

Specialization

There arenít enough items to allow each champion to really feel like they have their own unique build. We also want to add more items that allow you to specialize for the particular game that youíre in. Weíre adding items to give players in each role alternate primary builds that fill out their teams better. If your carry needs to do more AoE damage, he has an option for that. If your primary AP caster needs additional CC capabilities, thereís an option for that, too.

We want players to have a degree of specialization in terms of playstyle, and to buy items that complement that playstyle rather than simply giving them the highest raw stats.

Gold and Statistics Pass

Weíve done a complete gold and statistics pass on the entire item shop. Many statistics have been reevaluated to better reflect how much gold they are worth at a particular stage of the game. Premiums have been adjusted across many items to reflect how difficult they are to build or how niche they are, rather than their raw statistical strength. Items that grant early Resistances / Attack Damage / Attack Speed have all been reevaluated in terms of strength.

Breadth and Depth

One of the most important things we tried to accomplish during the preseason was to ensure that your mid game items didnít pigeonhole you into certain choices later in the game. Weíve also endeavored to give mid-tier items more late game options so that you donít run into dead-ends as the game progresses. If you build Wardenís Mail in the mid game, you shouldnít feel compelled to buy Randuinís Omen every game. We wanted to make sure that at each stage of item progression gave you upgrade choices later on.

We know that some of your favorite items might be affected by the coming update. Iíll be discussing many specific examples in depth leading up to the patch. If youíd like more information on a specific change, reply to the thread and Iíll answer your question if I can.
I'm a person who tends to build more toward what fits my play style the best, when playing AD carries, versus going with what everybody and their cousin does. However, when I do such things, I get flamed for being a troll, etc., even if I don't hinder our game in any way and it all leads to a victory.

I'm hopeful that you offering new choices will help people get out of their, "You do it this way or you suck", frame of mind. It'll be a lot easier for people like myself, since I'm sure I'm not the only one, that play differently.

I came in here expecting specifics like: which items were getting the axe, some example new items...

Curious thought; what of items like Warmogs, Force of Nature and Spirit Visage? Surely items like these have some degree of use, but are generally only used in-tandem on a tank champion that has lots of health.

It's a preferred build strategy I persistently use when I play Cho'Gath. He's all-out health, and having just Warmogs helps out tremendously.

If, say, Warmogs was nerfed to oblivion or removed, what of general tanky items that help tanks get a preferred amount of health while also keeping them from having a blasphemous lack of defensive capabilities, but sufficient tank prowess to survive focused fire? How would it help tank-like champions stand out while not giving item-precedence to an AD carry, even if they could benefit from one or two defensive items here and there?

I am questioning this thread, does that mean all starting items are going to see a complete nerf? Like Vamperic? Will that be reduced?
Will Doran's Blade see another nerf?

How about Negatrons Cloak? I believe that is going to see a nerf considering it's worth 740G for 48MR.

I heard that Force Of Nature is being removed, is this true? I understand why it is, since it's a giant amount of MR, MS, and a HUGE boost in HP Regen.

What about Blood Thirsters is that seeing a nerf?

I'm sorry but the general question here is, will every single item be nerfed? I have seen Riot's idea of balancing and yes it is usually great, but I don't think nerfing survivability is a great idea. Maybe some Regen items such as FoN..

What about Warmogs? Is that seeing yet another nerf to it's strength? It doesn't do much but give considerable amounts of HP/Regen and is a great item sometimes to build. But I don't see why it would need a nerf if any.

I feel like all this will do is nerf everything, is this true?

I love building on-hit. Can you give any specifics for wits end, malady, bloodrazors, and ionic spark?
