Sounds like a great idea. That said, what's the benefit to the player for racking up Honor? Queues with other high-honor players (fewer trolls, generally more pleasant playing experiences)? Some sort of other reward?

Gonna be interested to see how this ends up being put into place.

Now if you don't want this to fail, you'll give out IP for people that consistently get good reports.

As you stated before the people who were participating in the Tribunal for IP are usually the ones who were wrong, and were only in it for the extrinsic benefit.

Now on the flip side, if you don't reward IP for good behavior, the same good people will continue being good, but the toxic players will continue what they do because being good gives you nothing.

What I'm saying is the toxic players are usually the ones who will be motivated by IP, even if they're faking being a nice person, for that time and place, it's perfectly fine.

We've taken extra care and implemented extra features into the system to prevent abuse. For example, it'll be quite hard to get away with trading Honor and there's no incentives for premade friends to constantly queue up together and Honor each other.

Can we know that built in measures? Also how would you be able to verify the authenticity? (maybe the friend really is a great guy all the time)?

Probably the best way is to just disallow reporting for Honor to people on your friends' list.
They would also have to:

- Prevent Person A giving honor to Person B after Person B has already given honor to Person A (in a 24hr duration).
- Limit Honor to non-Custom games
- Limit Honor to non-Team (3v3, 5v5) games

Those are just the obvious ones, too.

At a pretty high level, we know from psychology that positive reinforcement is a good way to improve human behavior. Some trolls are no doubt going to continue to be trolls and be picked up by the Tribunal; however, some players who are 'skirting' the line between good and bad may decide to lean good because Honor exists. One of our goals in Team Player Behavior is to ensure that it's easier to be good than it is to be toxic.

For the good players, this is a way for us to celebrate them and reinforce that they are exactly the type of players we want in League of Legends.
