"Well of course not!" James agrees enthusiastically. "Demacian thieves tend to not get a lot of press, thanks to the efforts of the leadership here going 'Thieves? What thieves? WE are a shining example of humanity!" he continues, gesticulating dramatically while putting on his 'high-and-mighty' voice before slumping and making an exasperated noise. "Bloody idiots. We're some of the best in Valoran, thanks to the very harsh laws on such things."

"You may not have chosen this life but you certainly chose to stick with it, even after you earned money. No need to get on your high horse." Christina said quite flatly, releasing James hand so she could place her own on the wall for stability. "How much further?"

"Just saying that not acknowledging a problem will only make it worse," James replies placatively, continuing down the stairs. As they reach the bottom, he holds up a hand, indicating Christina should stop.

"First proper trap," he explains, looking carefully at the floor of the thinnish corridor, which appears to be covered in multicolored cobblestones, some red, some green, some blue.

"Allow me to demonstrate the elegance of this trap," he says, smiling as he pulls out a sack, opening it to show it is filled with sand. He tosses the sack onto a red tile, which immediately breaks, dropping the bag to the floor ten feet below.

"Nonlethal traps tend to be my preference," he says. "That way one does not accidentally kill oneself attempting to reach the living room."
He then begins navigating the trapped corridor by carefully treading on the green tiles.

Christina kept silent to his response, not knowing what to say but when James came to a halt, she almost bumped into him but managed to stop in time, peeking over his shoulder to see the explanation,

"Nonlethal, impressive. Personally, I would place spikes in the bottom just to make sure they never come out, but that's just me." Christina said, following James on only the green tiles.

"Well, a lot of the other thieves do things like that," James explains, continuing on the green tiles. "I'm a bit more forgiving. I don't keep a lot of valuables here, so this first trap is nonlethal because newbies need to learn somewhere without dying."

"But if the newbies learn, they slowly become experts and then you're in trouble."

James chuckles.
"Only the smart ones do," he says. "Like I said, the first trap is nonlethal."

"Ohhh, so there are some lethal traps? What's so important down here that you need all these? Your porn collection or something?" Christina teased, following James' footsteps exactly.

"Most of my most treasured and valuable... purchases lie within," James replies. "I don't want just anyone getting a hold of them. Only someone with cunning and skill close to my own should be able to lay claim to such items."

"As I suspected. I assume you have more than just this one place, right?" Christina asks as they continue to move.
Just how long was this tile floor?
