I used to play Yi a lot in my *snickers* noob days. My end game build was a ghostblade, 2 phantom dancers, 2 bloothirsters and berserker greaves, but I guess that a pretty common ADC build.

Usually I build my Master Yi with Mercury's Treads, Infinity Edge, Phantom Dancer, Frozen Mallet, Bloodthirster, and another Phantom Dancer.

Even though Yi isn't really good at team fights naturally, you should still try to fill in his weaknesses while enhancing his strengths. I play Yi more as a bruiser not as an AD carry similar to Gangplank:

Mercury Treads/Ninja Tabi/Berserkers
Wriggles Lantern/Bloodthirster
Phantom Dancer/Wit's End (Phantom Dancer for more damage, Wit's End for damage and survivability)
Infinity Edge (Core damage item, allows you to deal massive damage)
Quicksilver Sash (Core item, to help against stuns and crowd controls)
Guardian Angel (Armour, magic resist and a free revive.)

Things not to do on Yi:

Initiate team fights
Build full DPS and expect to win the game
More than a single phantom dancer (unless you build dunkmaster)
Lane, because Yi is an awful laner unless he is AP.
