Great except if you're against Anivia, Ryze, Kassadin, Leblanc, Annie. Those are the one that I have the most problems with

Veigar being one of my main, he's a pretty good champ. He can get rid of the fed AP or/and the AD Carry with a single combo. Amazing AoE stun and fairly easy to play

Veigar is pretty much a "OH YOU'RE AN AP?!" BOOM, kill, RUN AWAY!

He can lay down the pain on just about any AP VERY quickly due to his Stun, W, Q, R. If need be another Q or Deathfire seals the deal and theres very little an opponent can do to counter it if they get hit by the stun.

Also Veigar has no AP cap. If he can solidly Q far and keep Q farming through the game he can literally be sitting on more AP than anyone else in the game.

His ratios are EXCELLENT on his abilities so when he can (and does if the game keeps going) hits 500+ AP he can easily start hitting for 1000 or more for just each ability. Add to the fact it will just keep scaling up more and more means unless you keep Vei away from all minions he can eventually blow just about anyone up.

Team wise this makes him GREAT for smashing a carry and makes him a high priority target so he can be really good at baiting people into overextending since they believe him to be very weak as a mage (then they get stunned and blow apart)

His Q has a fast cooldown so even once a team fight is winding down he can throw in some decent damage shots, and the stun being a good area coupled with his Dark matter's high AP ratio means he can put the hurt on alot of champs at once in a team fight. Just don't build him glass cannon, no need to he can build the AP up himself.

Deathfire Grasp active - R

That combo will destroy people. You know when you're an AP mid against a Le Blanc who's been getting you all game, then all of a sudden you get your ult and you use her AP against her to waste her? That's Veigar. Your farm is good, their farm is great. You will make AP carries cry. And since you'll be buying Deathfire Grasp (don't question it, you will invariably arrive at the conclusion that you need a DFG in your build so you may as well go with it), you're also pretty good at nuking tanks too since DFG is a %HP active.

Your stun is an AoE and can split people up better than an Anivia wall, you can infinitely snowball with your Q/Q passives, your W will clear minion waves, and you can Q spam all day with just a few mp5 runes combined with your passive. Veigar is one of the old champions that doesn't need a mobility ability because he's just great. That and Deathfire Grasp is built with a Kage Pick, what's not to like about items that farm themselves. A Rod of Ages and a Zhonya's take care of tankiness, just remember DFG, Sorc Boots, Hat. Great solo queue champion as well since he takes care of AP carries so reliably.

Ryze doesn't build AP, so I'd agree that he's annoying although he eventually gets an Archangels Rod and that'll do just fine for your ult ( 80% of their AP as damage ). LB, Anivia, Kass, Ahri, all go the way of every other AP carry if you play well.
