Its like people are high on revive, its the new flash for dominion, I don't see why people use it, it has about a 10min cool down so u use it like twice a game.
Someone explain please.

Did you seriously bump a thread that was 1 minute old?
Anyway Revive is nice to have because it allows you to quickly reinforce a battle if you died.
It also allows you to cover your points more quickly should you have been caught in an unfortunate accident.

The 9 minute cooldown isn't much of an issue. Summoner spells aren't used often anyway.

  1. Revive: Grants a massive movement speed boost for a short duration upon reviving.

What it basically boils down to is this. Assuming equal skill and not having one team drastically outpick the other, you will never take a point from someone who owns it. The turret, even late game, with garrison does enough damage to prevent this, especially with tanky derps and AoE CC.

So if in that initial windmill fight, one team has revive and the other does not. For however many minutes, they have extra health and there's almost no way to initially beat them. They own it and they won the game. You finally beat them 9 minutes later? They all come back while 2 of you are still dead and all have 400 extra HP. GG you held top for 30 seconds.

And then on bottom, you beat the guy bottom and push his turret. JK, he spawned and is now moving faster than a bat out of hell. He kills you and takes your turret. It's basically a spell that on its own wouldn't be that good, but when a whole team takes it, then you have to take it to counter.

My take it on it is this; most summoners on Dominion are only going to get used maybe 4-5 times a game tops, and that's if you pop them pretty much every time they're up which isn't going to be the case. Revive gets you 2 uses per match. However those two uses get you a:
-100% escape from death that fully restores your health and mana.
-Bonus health for a pretty significant duration afterwards.
-Speed boost on use comparible to a free Ghost w/ mastery specced.

The Dominion map is small enough such that the speed boost from Revive + speed shrines are enough to get you back in the fight pretty fast. Death also doesn't matter nearly as much on Dominion, so dying and Reviving isn't frowned upon like it would be on SR or TT. Like Flash on SR, Revive is simply so useful on Dominion that it's foolish to not take it in your 'escape' spell slot. I don't see this meta changing unless Riot nerfs (ha!) Revive. Would love to see the faces on SR players reading patch notes where Riot NERFS what is considered the worst summoner in the game on SR.

The simplest way to put it is that Dominion is a "capture and hold" game mode and not a team deathmatch. Revive (and Garrison) is all about reinforcing points, thereby making sure that you don't lose them, which leads to winning games. Revive with mastery gets you right back where you need to be, and for the next few minutes you have a large health bonus making it even harder to dislodge you from a point.
