Just is.
Do you win capture the flag by killing dudes? No.
Do you win king of the hill by killing dudes? No.
Do you win any objective based game the same way you earn points in a deathmatch? No.
Point is, you shouldn't be awarded points (enemy nexus loses hp) when you get a kill. That's not the objective.
Solution A) remove this feature from dominion
Solution B) change classic so that it follows the same rule

No. The games arent supposed to last an hour like they can on SR. 25 minutes is a LONG dominion game, and if they took out or reduced the damage to the nexus that it recieves from kills it would extend the duration of the game another... who knows. 10-20 minutes possibly? No thanks.

That's your grand argument? ...because kills grant points?

How many games of Dominion have you played? Do me a favor next time. Ignore the enemy, never get a kill or do any damage, and only cap points. Let me know how that works out for you.

SPOILER ALERT:
It doesn't work. You have to clear the point and kill/remove all opposition before the point can be captured. Furthermore, you get MORE points for a capture than you do for a kill, I believe. You also take points off the enemy crystal for getting a kill until 100 points or less.

So, kills ARE important. It makes sense to grant some points for successfully killing an enemy, since they are obstacles to the TRUE goal, which is capturing and holding points. Slightly similar to SR, where the goal is to destroy towers/inhib/nexus, and the enemies are obstacles to that goal.

Just to chime in here, when I play my player matches, when I'm running a support character I take the 1st spot through the sheer number of captures I have, not through my KDR.

Hell, most of my Poppy games I point at my capture count more than my kill count
