Is he an easy to play champion,
I'm tired of using Poppy?
Here's a guide for Yi: http://www.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=12758
Is it good?
One more thing, he was free to play last week, but I wasnt on and everytime I joined a practice game, he was already taken.

He's also fairly versatile as he can be played both AD and AP, although they have different playstyles.

If you enjoy playing him, pick him up Unless you are "spr srs" about playing, just get champs you like. Most champs can be played juyst fine at most levels of play.

Go for it! He's up there in terms of DPS hard carries and is easy to play as well as cheap to buy.

Yi can be very deadly at all levels of play unless your opposing team is targeting you to keep you down

Maybe it goes without saying, but when starting out with Yi, stick to 3v3 maps. I found it much easier to get a feel for his capabilities there. He's got a ton of DPS potential, but he's a glass cannon, and it doesn't take much to break him. I found my first 3 or 4 games in 5v5 to be mediocre at best; I'd score some strong kills, but in the team fights I was essentially as squishy as Annie or Ryze, and died often.

In 3v3, however, I'm easily getting top kills and dying much less often. I'm no longer facing those WTF moments where 3 or 4 enemies switch target to me, and I'm suddenly dead. It feels good to NOT feed the enemy team!

Not that I'm saying he's no good in 5v5, or that you can't tank him. We've all seen fantastic Yi players. But getting to know him is much easier in an... intimate setting.

But yeah. He's a great champ and priced very nicely.
