It isn't that it's not fun, just pointless. Why do you need to make every ability do a thousand different things? from riots PoV to make the champ more interesting. Making it so 1 champ can do what 3 older champs could isn't very fun for people not playing the newer one.

It isn't like the characters they make are game breaking. They are trying make new champions that don't feel like other champions and by making more complex champions with different abilities they are able to do so.
