just know that it takes 7 mins and 44 seconds to make up u spent on it. so once thats done u then gain gold. so if ur planning on keeping it for 10 mins dont bother.

fer sure. and DFG is generally a crappy item as well with a few situational exceptions. (poppy mostly :P)

It's hard to say that it's 'one of the best g/5' items when there are only four such items in the game. Of them, three of them build into at least situationally useful items (Deathfire for anti tanks, Randuins for anti DPS, and Ghostblade for Yi'ing towers). Really, the only 'bad' g/5 item is Philosophers stone and even that is arguably useful for a short window, but ultimately too expensive for what are laning phase benefits.

If you're having trouble farming as a caster or are playing a caster who simply can't farm (Soraka), then a pick is fine. Remember that it has a decent sell price if you're ready to get a better item; if you're 200 shy of Rylais/Zhonyas/Guinsoo, then sell the pick and it's probably served its purpose just fine.
