Is Blitzcranck derived from and inspired by 'Blitzkrieg'?

As people have said, it's just a translation into German for "lightning Robot" just like Mordekaiser is a translation of "murderous emperor" in German.

Nazi had nothing to do with the regular german army.

As for the serious replies, thanks, I didn't know crank meant robot.

Plank in Gangplank obviously comes from walking the plank, before being forced to jump into the ocean.

Even though Gangplank is not strictly a gang, the similarities are striking don't you think?

Blitzcrank actually kind of reminds me of Robo from Chrono Trigger

His name, perhaps. However, his model appears to be a direct conversion of Robo's (Chrono Trigger) into the LoL-model system.

There are actually several german related champions in LoL. Blitzcrank and Mordekaiser were mentioned before, but there is also Heimerdinger and Olaf. Heimerdinger is a german last name, a very uncommon though. Olaf is an old german prename. Nobody would name his child Olaf nowadays, except you hate your child for some reason, because it's kind of a 'grandpa name'.

Katarina is also very common in Germany btw, although its not an original german name.

Rammus also origins in the german language. 'Rammen' is german for 'to drive against sth'. The 'us' in Rammus is a typically latin ending for male prenames, like Julius.

Sad indeed, because it's hard to get a proper discussion going in this community. I never had the ambition to be a king, I got an answer to my question and that's what matters to me.

@ Swire: That's interesting info man!
