Yeah I have to say I second the fondant thing...

First, those of you that have that artistic ability to sculpt, that's awesome. Those winners looked, for the most part, really pretty.

But have you ever tried eating that stuff??... It really tastes terrible. Like glue -paste. I mean, if there was substantial cake to eat under it all, I could understand, but pure sculpted fondant? Sorry, that's not an edible work of art.

Congratulations to the winners!

If you want a food contest, make it a recipe, eaten, tasted, tried and true contest. 50% taste, 50% looks.

If you want a sculpting contest, then call it that, judge it on pure appearance.

You kind of just kicked a lot of us in the mouth... eww I can taste fondant now, blah!

Really congrats to those few that actually had an awesomely creative, awesome tasting, and cool looking product. Go veggie Kagmaw!!!

Doesn't it show an apparent lack of creativity when you see a trend among most of the entries? Shouldn't that award bonus points to people who put a lot more work into the concept of their creation rather than making a pretty sculpture?

I'm not saying these people didn't put a lot of work into their dishes, I love to cook and I know a lot of pastry chefs that put a great deal of work into everything they do; it's tedious and a lot can go wrong, but it's kind of disheartening to see the same thing plastered across the grand winner list two years in a row.
Creativity was one of three major categories that we judged entries under. However, creativity does not ONLY apply to the ingredients used--rather it especially shines in the subject matter!

For example, we received entries made of *all* sorts of materials that were a simple Teemo, either standing or sitting. While some of the ingredients were used creatively, ultimately Teemo was doing nothing other than standing or sitting there and smiling.

You'll find that many of the grand prize entries had creative narratives which were told through the actions of the characters depicted. Did you notice that Kitana Muse's Baron entry shows Baron being controlled by Lulu to turn the entire enemy team into cupcakes? The Mundo cupcake in front is especially unfortunate with his tiny briefcase but no arms!

I really like the sushi rice Teemo, very nice work!

This is what I made, guess it wasn't good enough, but it was delicious!

Edit; Also looking at the pictures one of them really stands out and doesn't really even look like it was made of anything that isn't hard because cake doesn't have regular proprieties

Next year you should really disallow anyone that uses Cakes which would make some interesting results.
I like this idea of limiting the type of entries! Narrowing down the type of food would push people to think out of the box and could also make judging easier. Maybe a No-Sweets version, or Cakes Only, or any sweets excluding cake. Imagine all the chocolate or candy or sugar or cookie creations that could come from that! Perhaps even defining whether the food will be judged on how delicious it looks vs. how...accurate, I guess. I think it would be really cool to have to come up with a dish that captures the essence of a champ or League as a whole.

Ah, well. There's my two cents, anyways. Congrats to all the winners!

Ugh, just looking at those frosting sculptures makes me queasy. The only one of those I would consider eating is the sushi Teemo.

I mean no disrespect, since I knew this story would have such a bittersweet ending, but what all of these people mean is this:

One of the grand prize winners is of King Tryndamere and Queen Ashe standing heroically in front of Baron. But are they just standing there? So they won because the sculpture was beautifully crafted, this skill crushes whatever message may have been attempted to have been shown by those who lack that skill.

That's all. It just feels a little unfair that (I believe) many people entered expecting food food, I don't think many of us were expecting to be outplayed but many desserts.

I think that is what many are trying to get across - that's all.

Like I said though I mean no disrespect - I knew the winners would be cake-y due to the ability to mold. But I'm trying to clarify why some people may feel cheated. And this isn't a lash to MsPudding.

Seriously though, congrats to the winners because those are some awesome sculptures (I wonder how they taste...).

P.S. - The judging was most certainly not on the creativity of the materials due to the mono-substantial usage of sugar molds.

Seconded, with gusto. Contests should have more specific aims so those who will win via cake or vegetables for instance don't have to compete against one another (since the limitations and possible creations are much more varied).
