I need a build that gives you a carp load of HP and enough firepower to kill a char(good amount of damage). Also, runes suggestion?

Shen doesn't have that much damage he can only use ki strike and vorpal blade, in other words you just stack a bunch of hp to do massive damage with Ki strike.

Items:
Leviathan
Aegis of Legion
Frozen Mallet
Sunfire cape

^that is what I usually use for hp.

You can switch Frozen Mallet for Rylai''s if you want magic resistance.

I get(not including boots):
Leviathen
Frozen Mallet
Warmog's Armor
SunfireCape

Are those good items? At level 18 I should be getting around 5000hp.

Warmog's is bad because it's really the same thing as 2 giant belts and 2 ruby crystals (which is cheaper than Warmog's), and to get it you have to kill stuff which shen isn't the best at.

You get a lot of hp from Leviathan and frozen mallet so you should either add aegis of legion or sunfire cape.

Aegis of legion is an aura item which helps every ally near you and it's cheap.

Sunfire cape is also good since it gives you armor as well as hp.

Slightly OT, but do shen's abilities do magic or physical damage?

Graci'

Re: xTurtleX: I asked because when I tank I vary my items based on the type of damage I'm most likely to take and since shen is in every other game, this is important info.

I don't know why people have this huge issue with Warmogs. The whole "Warmogs is bad because it's more expensive then 3 giant belts and gives less hp" is ludicrous. Sure it gives less hp, but it also takes LESS room.

Back to the OP: I like building Leviathon' first. Purely because @ 6 I have great map control which allows me to get stacks faster then most heros.

After Leviathen you get boots to suit, tabi or mercury.

Frozen Mallet is a very good choice, personally I'm a sunfire stacking ***** who throws in a Guardian Angel to protect my stacks and an Atma's Implaer for sexy HP -> AD ratio.

IMHO Frozen mallet on Shen is pretty bad: you pay 3300 gold or so for 700 HP, 20 damage and slow (last two not so great for a tank). For just a bit more (3610 gold) you can get a Sunfire Cape and another Giant's Belt. That's +880 Heath, +45 Armor and 40 AOE DPS. Much better if you ask me.

My Shen item build goes as follows:

Warden's mail/Force of Nature
Ninja Tabi/Merc Threads
Sunfire Cape
Randuin's Omen (if i got Warden's Mail)
Guardian Angel
