"Dominion is a really fun change of pace to the traditional Summoner's Rift experience.
We think Dominion needs some work to become a real "competitive" experience, but tons of people play Dominion and there's a pretty large group that exclusively plays Dominion.
Dominion is a great example of how we have continued to evolve our genre and drive innovation."

Meh, they've been saying that for months.

They drove innovation alright. They drove that bus until it stalled, took the keys and ran. They have plans to put more gas in the bus, but the world will likely run out of oil before that happens. Then they'll have plans to convert it to an ELECTRIC BUS, with racing numbers and shiny new balanced axles...

Anything to keep the passengers pacified, pal!

I don't know how all of you feel, but whenever I hear 'Supremacy' I cringe.

We're like the ex-gf that Riot forgot to call and officially break up with.

And that's all she wrote for the AMA.

One vague and obligatory statement. Yay...

That's a very worrying response, I think. Basically, there are no bones to even be thrown Dominion's way, apparently.

May 15!

That's why I didn't give a **** about this AMA. All it would be is bootlicking and "omg trondamer ur so col 4 doing this ty u so much." Any real question would be met with some vague answer that's ultimately meaningless. There is literally no point to an AMA because the answers amount to absolutely nothing.

Even questions about the future of the game were just vague PR lipservice. The whole thing was to drum up publicity. :/

He's president of a multi million dollar company. It's his job to take the politician's route and make superficial appeals to people. It's intended to make the man, corporation, or organization appear more transparent and "in-tune" with the common man, even though it almost entirely lacks substance or meaning. People always gobble this stuff up, though.

I mean, this Dominion response is a classic example of a response without any substance. It admits the problem (Dominion needs work) because people want their problems to be taken seriously, but then it plays on words to put this problem into a good light (but "tons" of people play it), and it ends with an optimistic note to provide the listener subconsciously with a good feeling regarding Dominion, so they think "Yeah, Dominion is up and coming. Tons of people play it, and Riot really cares about diversifying the game."

In reality, "tons" of people is misleading because in comparison to SR, very few people play Dominion for what Dominion was actually intended for (this means excluding ARAB). "Tons" is relative. It's true that tens of thousands of people play Dominion, but as a standalone game mode it's nothing compared to the millions playing SR. Relatively speaking, a more accurate description would be "a small minority" than "tons."

Regarding the optimistic tone, there's not a whole lot to be optimistic about. Dominion has been dying since a few weeks after its creation. Draft times are horrible, the competitive scene struggles to exist, and the bulk of the community with time invested into the mode is more than a little disgruntled that Dominion gets no attention. It doesn't appear in Champion Spotlights anymore, reds never comment here, and there are no reliable indications that Dominion is being prioritized at all by Riot. It seems like the overly optimistic tone of the response is more intended to distract from the issues at hand and placate the community at large, rather than man up, acknowledge the problems, and communicate that it is being taken seriously.

Tryndamere's message is obviously misleading, designed more to steer the masses to his side than to give an honest, well-intentioned response, and provides zero promise of any significant improvement to Dominion in the future or that Dominion will be handled any differently than Twisted Treeline has been. His priority is winning over people, not being honest or helpful. That's how politicians and CEOs work because that's what keeps their business running.

The Dominion community is a small but tight-knit community well aware that Dominion is not in a good spot right now for the long-term.
