Communication is not significantly better in draft

The problem with lower elo draft is the person banning often pick some really horrible champs to ban. For example banning kat, tryn etc all champs who shouldnt give your team any trouble. Also with the champs you say you are comfortable with you are pretty limited in roles. You should try and get proficient in at least one or two champs in each role in case the 3 or 4 picks in front of you end up grabbing tank, bot and support for example you will want to be ok with an ap or ad or assassin if that is what you need. Also if you want to progress in elo from that low you may be better off with champs that can change the game a bit more individually. For example amumu, while generally being a decent pick, is often relying on teammates to actually come in and kill enemy team when you bandage in and ult. Half the time they will stand around hitting minions when you initiate etc.

Draft mode with a 1200 rating will probably be worthwhile because the queue times are relatively short in comparison to higher ratings.

The advantages to playing draft are many, but even if no one on your team plays any better than blind, or chooses any champion as a counter, you can at least determine which of your allies are best suited for bot in advance, and you can choose which summoner skills will be the most useful against the enemy team. You also get six bans that help things out for the most part, though you will see some strange bans at the lower elo levels. However, as long as Rammus is banned, you just made your draft mode worthwhile.

On the other hand, if you only care about winning and decide to exclusively play Rammus or one of the commonly banned champs, blind pick may be the better option since it ensures you have the greatest advantage you can have each match.

I honestly find more fun in blind pick. Yeah, both teams usually pick OP champs, but in a strange sense its balanced because of it.
