Yep, it's a big part of the game's presentation and like you said, it will impact a lot of users' first impressions.

Out of curiosity, why do we need our hp/mana displayed both at the bottom and in the top left?

Coming from other games, some users will want this layout to quickly compare their health/mana with their target's. Others will want to turn off the redundant info and move the target bar over their middle info cluster.

We will be providing that level of customization either at launch or soon after.

It looks naaiiiice in terms of usability. My only complaint is that with all the gold it no longer feels coherent theme-wise with the out of game menus, which I always thought was a big problem.

Yeah, it may be too gold.

We are considering changing the wall art gold to dark metal or silver. Thoughts?

Also, the best art we come up with will inform the style of everything else.

The idea of movable frames and customization sounds absolutely AMAZING!!! I was huge on custom UI back when I played WoW, so this is a huge breath of fresh air.
