I know SOPA hasn't been passed as a law yet, but the US government has already started acting towards it. Megaupload, a huge file-sharing site, has been shut down! I am disappoint indeed.

What I fail to understand is why and how the FBI was able to shutdown a website located in New Zealand.
Even if there was cooperation and good will, I don't understand how the FBI could pretend having any jurisdiction there.

Yes somewhat. They were able to use legal actions through laws that are present right now, but it still displays a huge act towards SOPA.

Yes Im confused as to how they were able to do anything in a different country. Possibly because these piracy laws exist worldwide through the use of the internet? But seriously, the US just keeps on screwing everything over -_-

ITT People who don't know the current law whine about things they don't understand.
