It seems that regardless of the state of SOPA/PIPA is currently in, whether it is passed, declined, or shelved, the government is already going to attack the internet.

RIP Megaupload. It was nice being able to download game patches from your website.

if they closed MU its cause they were promoting illegal downloads
otherwise the companies could just shut down every single sharing site
they obv. had conclusive information to bring it to court.

Yes, instead of taking down one massive one, they would have gone after dozens of smaller ones, and spend substantially more money to prove a point to substantially fewer people.
