Put simply, SOPA and PIPA have pretty much fizzled out for now, with Obama and the White House NOT supporting the two bills. It's not gone, but it's definitely going to need some reworking to make it back into the Senate and House of Reps.
A good quote from the first article, from the White House blog:
“While we believe that online piracy by foreign websites is a serious problem that requires a serious legislative response, we will not support legislation that reduces freedom of expression, increases cybersecurity risk, or undermines the dynamic, innovative global Internet."
I know this is kind of old news for some, but a lot of people are still unaware.
