You can play some really aggressive bot lanes with Tanky DPS and lots of CC. They either do really well or fail really hard though. Sustain Support with AD Carry is just so much safer.. even if you make a mistake you can often come out ahead.

Taric and Cait is overrated, but that's not to say they aren't crazy good.

Vayne and Leona go well together bot lane, but then you're missing out on a support (although you're replacing it with a CC machine tank).

Reason why?
Vayne's damage is relatively low by itself early game. However, with Leona's passive, Vayne can do some good damage as long as she makes sure to time it right to make full use of each mark.
The main reason though, is because of how Leona works. She gap-closes to someone in the bush and then she's in the bush with them to provide sight. Then she stuns them, and then Vayne stuns them against the wall for some pretty sick burst damage early in the game. That, in combination with Leona's passive, Vayne's true damage, and Vayne's AA reset tumble can be very strong.

There are a couple of duo-lanes that you can run and beat most other bot lanes.

Taric/Caitlyn is a great start and a good defensive bottom, you cant really get killed in this lane unless you make mistakes.

Sona/Ezreal is a good poke combination that can beat alot of duo lanes due to high damage poking both champions have.

Alistar/Tristana is a devastating botlane, in my oppinion the best botlane to run in ranked if you both are coordinated. Alistar W into wall, Q, keep attacking and keep Trample up, Tristana W+E+Ignite+atack. Extreme single target burst and if you're really coordinated Flash will not save the target and healing wont either due to debuffs. It's a great counter to Soraka/Sona lanes because both are squishy and have heals.

Graves/Janna is another example of a good lane because Graves is so tanky and with Janna slows Graves can keep hitting a target and get massive burst with Q+R.

Urgot/Janna is a lane-zoning combination, if you land Urgot E with the help of Janna Q+W, you have free, unanswered damage on a target. Weak against healing lanes, though.

Leona is a very good champion to run botlane due do good early game damage and CC, she has CC and damage comparable to Alistar at lvl 1-5 and even BETTER at lvl 6 onwards. I would not suggest using Vayne. Although she is a monster late game, you often find the low range really kills her in solo queue games.

Graves and Tristana seem the best choices because of high AoE and long range, respectively.

Pick your best AD carry/Support. By the best, I mean those with whom you're confident. Don't try champions you don't know how to play/you're bad with.

Another amazing bot lane that I run a lot that seems to work quite well, especially against full counter, is Caitlyn/Xerath. Although you have no sustain in lane, you generally won't need it. This bot lane generally works with Xerath maxing Q first for maximum early-game poke potential, preventing your enemy laners from backing and from getting CS effectively. Caitlyn, meanwhile, just farms most of the time. If you're engaged on, you have Xerath's stun and slow combo, mixed with a Caitlyn trap with her E for disengage. Late game is primarily split push, and if you're good as Xerath, lots of Baron steals. I've played about 10 games with it, and have stolen Baron twice. A good counter to this lane would be Vayne/Janna for the engage potential if they out-manuevered poke with tumble and the boosted movement speed, as well as the Janna shield absorbing damage if you can't get out of a Xerath W.

Hmm, lets find some good bot lane combinations

1- Jinx + Leona. Once Leona goes in, Jinx has easily land her E and her ult.
2- Cait + Sona. Cait has ranged AD poke, Sona has ranged AP poke.. (well since her rework IDK too much about her. Apparently she's more of a passive healer so you might want to look into this one).
3- Graves + Annie. That burst though!
4- Ezreal and Soraka. Free mana for unlimited Q's
5- Cait + Lulu. When Cait is shielded, Lulu's extra magic damage passive applies to Cait. MOAR POKE!
6- Vayne + Janna

Generally speaking, any of the top tier / A tier supports and ADCs will do faily well together:
-> Supports : Leona, Thresh, Morgana, Sona, Lulu
-> ADC: Kog'Maw, Tristana, Cait, Jinx, Lucian
