Valkyrie Lead, Grand Marshal of the Iron Solari

"Flamell's deserted the IsC. I'd like your permission to go after him, Sir. To bring him home."

The Grand Marshal's jaw worked for a few moments as his mind raced, processing the story he had heard. Flamell had proved his worth over and over, as one of the most dedicated members of the Iron Solari. He was deathly loyal to Leona, and he had long ago proved that he couldn't be bought. He wouldn't have to worry about Flamell causing trouble for the Iron Solari. When he had pledged he allegiance to Leona, he had made a solemn vow never to use his powers again, for any reason. Having to break that promise to himself and to Leona... it must have been crushing to him.

"Flamell has made his own decision." The Grand Marshal said solemnly. "But if you wish to persue him and attempt to persuade him to return, then you are free to do so. I'd hate to lose two good men but you are your own man, Baneson." Baneson nodded at him and turned away.

"If you'll excuse me then..." Baneson said quietly, casting his gaze to the ground.

"Do me a favor, Baneson." The Grand Marshal said, stopping him.

"Hmm?" He grunted, unconsciously working his shoulder.

"Go see the medics and get some rest first. You all did a **** fine job out there today." Baneson nodded as he limped away, leaving the soldier behind. The soldier still held onto the Signet. The Grand Marshal gestured to it and held his hand out. "May I?"

"O-of course." The soldier said, dropping it into his hand. The Signet was the Golden Parrot crest that was the symbol of the Iron Solari. It signified everything that the Iron Solari stood for. If Flamell had sent this too him... well he wouldn't be forced to come back. He was certain that he would come back when the time was right, but he needed to figure out when that time was for himself.

"Sir!" A soldier barked. "The Parrot King requests your presence sir." The Soldier snapped off a salute.

"I'm a tad busy..." The Grand Marshal said, looking at the soldier.

"It is urgent to say the least." The Soldier gestured to a dropship coming down the rear elevator from the rear receiving deck. A large birdcage covered with a tarp was wheeled off of it, escorted by soldiers and armored bears in black armor. The Grand Marshal recognized that unit. He needed to speak with the Parrot King immediately.

_ _ ___ _ _

The Grand Marshal entered the VIP quarters where the Parrot King and a very battered and exhausted looking Ethann were sitting at either side of the office's desk. His presence took him by surprise.

"Welcome, Grand Marshal."The Parrot King said, ignoring the intrusion.

"Ethann..." The Grand Marshal said, blankly. "Welcome back, I didn't know you had returned."

"I caught a ride up on one of the transports." He said, sipping a cup of coffee.

"Have a seat Grand Marshal, we have much to discuss." The Grand Marshal looked at the chair and shook his head.

"I'll just stand if that's okay." The Grand Marshal said.

"Suit yourself." The Parrot King said. "I need you to promise me you will trust me and you won't ask question Val..."

"I'm already not liking this..." The Grand Marshal muttered.

"You have to promise me Val." The Parrot King said frowning. The Grand Marshal frowned, his arms crossed over his chest. He locked eyes with he Parrot King. He had only seen seriousness like this on a rare few occasions.

"Fine." The Grand Marshal muttered. "But answer me this: why was the Ravenous Flock deployed without my knowledge?"

"Ah yes..." He mused, sitting back slightly. "I made an executive decision with Volibar to deploy our Special Forces in a combined mission. We seized one of Morello's most prized possessions..." He drew an Ice-crystal feather and placed it on the desk. He steepled his fingers in front of his face, leaning forwards, his face serious. "We took advantage of the distraction created by this whole ordeal and seized Anivia right out from under the nose of Morello's troops. But that is a matter for later."

"I see..." The Grand Marshal said, frowning.

"Problem Grand Marshal?" The Parrot King asked.

"No sir, just an interesting development." He crossed his arms. He didn't like not knowing things. "It will be interesting to see how Morello reacts..."

"Indeed." The King mused. "So, Grand Marshal, I need to ask you a few questions." The Parrot King sat back and turned, looking out the window. The Grand Marshal frowned. Something had changed, and he already knew. That letter from the minion had obviously contained something that had disturbed the King.

"Of course, sire." The Grand Marshal said, trying not to let his displeasure creep into his voice.

"Stow it." Ironstylus said, frowning. "How quickly could we have the army prepared to attack the black keep?" The Grand Marshal's jaw dropped.

"Not any time remotely soon..." He said, closing his mouth and thinking. "A few weeks at best. It depends on how long it takes to consolidate our troops, to call back all our forces, and then there's jsut general transit... It'll take days to get there with the entire fleet, and thats without the rest of the army still in Parrotopia."

"Could you do it in three days?" The Parrot King asked.

"No." The Grand Marshal said firmly. "We'd have to leave immediately and even if we did make it on time, the troops are still exhausted and we still don't know about the Republic troop deployments, let alone their strength at the black keep. We don't have an army here, only a strike force. We'd be going straight to our death, not to mention..."

"I get it." IronStylus said, massaging his temple. "In that case..." He turned back to the Grand Marshal. "I need a few favors, Val."

"Anything, your highness." The Grand Marshal said, his ever present frown there.

"I need you to resume your training me in the art of sword play." He held up a hand to hold off any comments. "I also need you to prepare a dropship with only a single pilot. Discreetly. And I need it to be ready to travel as fast as it can fly."

"Why do you---..."

"You promised no questions, Val." The Grand Marshal sighed and nodded. He had a very, very bad feeling about where this was going.

“Yes sir.” The Grand Marshal said frowning. He didn’t want to have to lose it already, but if his hunch was right, there was only a sinlge craft aboard the aboard the Albion that could get him where he wanted in time. The Fiona was a VIP shuttle designed to carry dignitaries back and forth at high speeds. It had a huge travel distance and I only needed a single capable crewman.

“We need to begin training immediately.” The King said, nodding at Ethann who excused himself. “Where do you want to start? In the Hangar?”

“No, I have a better place in mind.” The Grand Marshal said, shaking his head. “There is a room, two decks below the Bridge that is closed off. Go there, the code for door is 8441. I will join you there shortly.”

“Alright.” The King said, leaving the office, the long bundle Ethann had had tucked safely under his arm, a letter grasped in his free hand. The Grand Marshal knew it was a weapon, a saber of some sort, but anything other than that was not something he knew. He frowned as he sat down at the desk and took out a piece of paper. He began scrawling instructions down on the piece of paper for various people.

Lt. Brosighdon- Accompany Captain Luther and his platoon down into Nikopolis and search for survivors within the Nikopolis. Take any NMR survivors into custody and provide medical treatment for anyone who needs it. If needed bring them back to the Albion.

Herr Baron- I need my Caster and in my stead you will be in charge of the Albion. See to it that the ship doesn’t crash and try to keep everything under control. Prepare the Fiona for flight as well. Her maiden voyage is going to be an important one.

Ambearsador Soucup- Please see to Lady Nikasaur if we are able to recover her. I leave the political negotiations in your capable hands for now.

Major Bernard: Please keep the safety of the ship under control. Any unwanted guests should be taken to custody or in the case of refusal to submit, you are allowed to use lethal force. Seek the assistance of Ambearsador Soupcup is something should arise requiring more force than you can muster.

Send anyone in need of the Grand Marshal or The Parrot King to D deck, directly below the Bridge, But only if absolutely necessary. We will return to our posts in several days.

-Grand Marshal Valkyrie Lead

He folded the letter over and left the office, leaving the letter with an officer for the directions to be delivered to each of their respective recipients by word of a courier. He proceeded to his own private training studio, something he had Herr Baron at it directly into the blueprints for him. He hadn’t had the opportunity to use the studio yet, but he had all the equipment and weaponry he could ever desire to have at his finger tips, including almost every type of bladed weaponry at use in the world. There he could work with the Parrot King undisturbed.

They would need every minute they could get...

...Because something told him that they were running out of time.

[[Alright, I probably won't be able to respond to much of anything for the next few days so i leave things in Baron and Soup's capable hands. Brosighdon, do ahead and go find Lady Nikasaur and bring her back to the Albion. You can use My NPC Captain Luther and his platoon (36 men) to do so however you wish.]]

[[Thing is i'm going to a con over the weekend over the weekend and i don't know if i'll be able to get internet access. It's basically a reason for me to be MIA and still be canon. And I've already started training him back in Chapter 2 i believe.

Unfortunately I was just going to have them train without actually going into it in too much detail. sorry. :/ ]]
