Frustration over this event can be attributed entirely to poor communication of the tournament rules:

As many of you have observed, the rules posted on the official WCG website were inconsistent with the way the WCG was running the qualifiers. The consistent ruleset for online WCG tournaments is a double elimination, best of three sets format, and the entire event was run in this fashion. The officially posted rules on the WCGs website incorrectly stated the rules for this event as best of three games. This was the primary reason for the confusion.

Riot works with a variety of eSports organizations, but we do not administer or have oversight of third party tournaments. When players raised this situation to our attention, we consulted with the WCG in an attempt to understand and clarify the situation.

We are still investigating the situation as you know, this is fairly complex and there are a lot of moving parts, and we want to make sure we have the full story before commenting further. We have requested the WCG clarify the situation and their rules further, and well continue to keep you posted.

We know this hasnt been a great experience for fans of competitive League of Legends. Were not happy about it either, and were sorry its taken us a while to communicate to you on this subject.
The entire event was run on a best of 3 games, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. It was only until the after the qualifiers had ended that the best of 3 sets were brought up. The qualifiers went on for months without anyone catching this? Is it not your job as eSports manager to oversee any of this?

The real question is why wasn't Dignitas DQ'd by using Jatt, or at least forced to use another player.

There was no inconsistencies in the way the tournament rules were stated. The players of both teams and the community as a whole had a clear understanding of the rules, and it was shown by the gg's and gratz given to CDE from dignitas following the first 2 games. Both teams at that point thought that it was over. It was not until after when voyboy inquired about the rules that the admin from WCG got confused. Somewhere he got the idea (not going to point fingers) that WCG canada qualifiers were held in a BO3 set format which they were not. CLG CA won in merely 1 game coming from the winners bracket. The original reason to have the US qualifiers be a BO3 sets was to keep things consistent between the 2. This is the reason that you marcou gave on SOTL for plenty to see. After it was found that that was not the case with the Canadian qualifiers the decision should have immediately been overturned. For some reason that did not happen and I am not sure why. I have no problems with Jatt or Dignitas in their handling of the situation as currently there is not enough evidence to blame any individual or organization. The only reason that this has been upheld so far is to merely save face and cover mistakes made. Everyone knows INCLUDING dignitas that CDE won fair and square. The idea of a BO3 set is just plain outlandish as this is 5-10 hours of game play and there is no way that is practical for the competitive scene.

So please RIOT do the right thing and reverse the decision and send the rightful winners to WCG.

sadly
Matt said quite clearly that WCG was being run in conjunction with Riot, and they contacted him for his opinion on the situation, which was weighted quite clearly. To say he had no hand in this is wrong.

So where exactly do they allow a player(Jatt) to play for two different nations? And then only DQ the team who is already eliminated?
