You're rewarded by (hopefully) "winning" your team the game.

It shows who backdoors the most points, even if the enemy just caps it back immediately.

Had an Ashe one game who just ran to BD everything and died constantly. She was first on our team (we lost of course) but we had no damage output, because Ashe was always respawning.

Short story: ranks don't really say much of anything.

It is to show who kills the most people while near an allied base. People who defend by chasing enemies off without a kill, backdoor, protect buffs, and counter-capture get less recognition than strong 1v1 champs who sit at a point farming triple kills the whole game.

100% false. I did a game as mobility-spec Teemo and did nothing but cap points and interrupt captures until help arrived and came away in 4th place and people like Jax who just farmed kills the whole time came out ahead in the end.

Backdooring and babysitting/chasing off is the way to earn the least amount of points.

Defenders almost always come away with the worst point totals.

In any event, the scores don't even matter.
