Rather than have champions suffer because they are OP in one game mode, (Mundo, TT) maybe when you have to make balance changes, only change the champ for certain game modes. This would help the balance between summoner's Rift and Dominion a lot because you wouldn't have to cripple a character for one game mode so they were balanced in the other one.

I am completely for this, its ridiculous trying to balance for all of them, for instance GW tried to balance their characters for both PvE and PvP, and after a while they were like "we give up", and had separate balancing for both types of gameplay.

It will improve the balance of the champions and be easier to do.

Item shop rebalancing is the way to go.

Mundo, for instance, wouldn't be a nightmare on TT if there were less tank and health regen items and more anti-lifesteal, early game damage, and anti-health regen items on TT.

Making the champs play different is just kind of stupid, since no other video game does it - Scouts don't have different stats on every TF2 map.

bad example, the engineer is completely useless on some game modes but is somewhat useful in others. In LoL we like to have all our champs playable...

Offensive engy can be played on any map. Not as effectively as most other classes, but you have an option besides turtling (again, based on item selection).

They are splitting the item pool (gathered from the media releases)

i,e. there are items unique to only dominion

Basically, what I'm saying is that you're argument that "no other game does this" is not valid, because those other games don't really care about having all their classes useful in competitive play. Have you ever seen a spy for example in a competitive game?

Spies are balanced around 12v12 but Valve can't control how many people play on a TF2 server. Riot can.

there are some items that will not be available in dominion: madred's razors is a confirmed cut.
New items too: confirmed is Ionic Spark, an HP/AS item that can proc a chain lightning to nearby enemies.

I'd hate to have to remember the rules and intricacies for each champion... multiplied by each map, by each mode. So yeah.. please don't change the rules and skills of champions! Keep it to the items!
