I'm sorry ONE dude ****ed up his zeppelin like 80 years ago, but they're really quite safe.

if you were using a non-combustible gas mix, the zeppelin thing could be interesting. i'd think a low orbit "skyport" would be more reasonable.

This guy is 100% correct, and the new Zeppelins are filled with Helium, not Hydrogen. (See link below)

Zeppelins are the correct response, as they would be the easiest to use to create the flying aircraft carrier concept, although the number of aircraft a zeppelin-carrier could hold might be up for debate.

You could have drop-launches of the planes off of a deck being supported by two zeppelins.

Could a Zeppelin launch and land jet fighters like the F-22 Raptor?

Except for the part of.....

In the rare situation when a pilot doesn't land properly on our current ACCs, and wreck, they "chip the paint". An F-22 Raptor slamming into the Carrier isn't going to sink the Carrier.

An F-22 Slamming into a Zep or the platform suspended by it, will take the entire thing down. They aren't durable enough to deal with that kind of situation.

They launch some experimental aircraft off of planes, sort of like piloted missiles without a warhead.

Ignoring the fact that whole point of an aircraft carrier is to move your aircraft around more reliably.

If you were to make a dirigible using armored helium tanks using existing technology it is quite possible. A loaded f22 is 29.3 metric tons. The difference between air and helium density at 5000m is around .56 kg/m3. Thus to keep one fighter afloat you would need around 52000 m3, in otherwords two 20m radius tanks would do the trick.
