Anyone else think Riot isn't pairing up normal teams fairly since season two? In many of my games my team is constantly paired against 1900+ elo players while my team usually doesn't even make it into the 1700 range. I thought Riot had a good matchmaking system in order until Season three came out.

Keep in mind that the system used for pair normal games and ranked games are not the same. It does not, as I understand it, look at your ranked elo when setting up a normal game.

pretty much this.

Normal is a come-one-come-all type of deal. Besides I've played against and with ranked people before. They're not that much better than people in normals most of the time.

I remember a game I played a few weeks ago. Teams were split like this:

2 1500s, 2 unranked players, and a 2.3k player. My team.
2 2.4ks, 2 1.7ks, and an unranked player. Their team.

Why? Because higher rated players most likely don't have as many normal games. I've played 2k~ normals. If I went and played ranked for a season (which I plan on doing this season), I could probably hit 1.6k-1.7k Elo, maybe higher (hopefuly higher!). So what happens the higher level people don't have proper normal Elos, because they've spent time playing ranked, and probably improved since then. So when they play normals, their Elo is the same as people who have spent a lot of time playing normals instead of ranked, despite them being higher level players.
