League of Legends FPS Troubleshooting Guide
This guide is intended to help you troubleshoot some frequent causes of bad FPS in game. If you havenít done so already, please start with the FPS Solutions Guide in the Knowledge Base, which covers detailed steps on many FPS troubleshooting options. Please remember that you can also contact Riot Support directly at any time by Submitting A Ticket to Riot Support Staff

Settings Fixes
1. Lower your in-game graphics settings, especially shadows.
2. Turn off your graphics cardís Vertical Sync (V-Sync).
3. Make sure all of your 3d graphics settings in your (nVidia control panel/catalyst control center) are set to ďapplication controlled.Ē - http://support.leagueoflegends.com/e...roubleshooting

Process Fixes
1. Set your LoLClient to low priority while running the game. - http://www.wikihow.com/Change-Process-Priorities-in-Windows-Task-Manager
2. Force close your PVP.net client (note you will have to relog after each game if you do this)
3. Turn off background programs and processes that could be using resources, especially virus scans
4. Update your Adobe AIR

Performance Fixes
1. Try out Game Booster - http://game-booster.en.softonic.com/
2. Defrag your computer
3. Reinstall your League of Legends - http://support.leagueoflegends.com/e...gue-of-legends
4. Make sure your run an anti-virus or anti-spyware scan with a fully up-to-date and reputable protection program.
5. Set your virtual memory/page file to at least 2gb, set the minimum to equal the max.
6. Manually set your fan speed and video card settings with RivaTuner - http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?page=rivatuner

Hardware Issues
1. Check to see if you Meet the Recommended Requirements - http://support.leagueoflegends.com/e...m-requirements
2. Make sure your computer is not overheating. Check your Video Card, CPU and Memory temperatures while in game. This is by far the most common FPS problem we see, especially in laptops.
3. Make sure your Video Card Drivers are up to Date -http://support.leagueoflegends.com/e...o-card-drivers
4. Try running a stress test on your video card, processor and memory (different programs are used for different hardware (example: 3dMark for video cards, MemTest86+ for RAM)

FPS Problem Common Misconceptions
1. My computer runs other games just fine that means League of Legends should work.
Different games stress your computer in different ways and are not a great indicator of whether or not your computer is able to handle League of Legends. Often times games that may seem more graphically intensive were really designed to be playable on much weaker systems (think World of Warcraft or Diablo 3)

2. My computer was working fine for the past week/months/year
Just like a car or a house, your computer runs on parts that eventually break down. Just because your computer was working fine last week doesnít mean that itís going to work great today. Especially with laptops where overheating issues are the cause of many FPS problems, heat from ambient temperature, dust buildup or over-time heat damage may suddenly show up as an FPS problem.

3. This patch caused my game to have low FPS
Most patches donít include any graphics related changes and wouldnít be able to affect your FPS. While patches are an easy ďchangeĒ point to focus on, itís important to try and remember exactly when a problem started and what other possible changes or issues could have come up with your computer.

4. I havenít made any changes, it should still be working
Even if it doesnít look like youíve made changes to your computer, often times these things happen in the background. Viruses and spyware can rob your computer of performance and may have gotten installed without notice. Antivirus software and Windows Updates, and many other programs are usually set to update automatically in the background and may present a change.

5. My machine is the greatest thing ever and blows the system requirements out of the water
That helps, but it doesn't mean your computer isn't causing the issue. Top end computers are still vulnerable to overheating, corruptions, spyware and hardware issues.

I cleaned my Fan so it doesn't overheat. The wind blowing is cool. I turned on Game Boaster, defragged, clean computer, changed ram, set all my settings to "very low" and yet once in a while i drop to 05-08 fps and i lagged like crazy. It happens for 5 minutes then stops. Then after like 5 minutes of 60fps, it drops again. I have 15 ping. And i had this problem before. What can i do?

Also having this issue. Im on a dell inspiron 17R with an i7, 8gb Ram, Intel HD Graphics. I get 60 FPS for the first 15 minutes (past 3 games, 2 in 1 sitting, 1 a few days ago) I have defragged, ran security scansand restarted my laptop atleast once a day.I do not believe heat is the issue because to fix the issue i close out the game (which takes a few minutes to respond) and start the game back up immedietly and it runs at 60 for the remainder of the games. I run the game on max settings and when my FPS dropps it goes between 0-3 (I had no idea less then 1 was possible but now i know...)
any help will be appreciated.

I think i resolved the problem by setting a specific FPS (60) rather than having it set to stable.

Well done, great fix! what i did was take my old almost dead battery out, and took a vacuum to the fan, now air moves around more and the battery probably was causing heat problems too.

Drivers are all updated. Computer is a month old. Been playing game on this computer since I got it without any issue until the Syndra patch started. The match will start fine until the 5 minute mark and then my FPS goes from 50-60 to 3-5-10 then 2 minutes later will go to 30 and then up and down every 3-5 minutes. I can't enjoy the game anymore. It really is ridiculous. I know that it isn't just me because everyone and their mother is talking about this FPS issue.

Thank you Wrenchman! Since the Nami Patch Update, alot of my friends have been having Major FPS drops, and to the point when they cant even play the game anymore. Is there anyway Riot can fix this?
