It's very simple: People don't like the tribunal BECAUSE it works. If you look at the community, you will find them raging and griefing on a regular basis (I hate to use the term 'trolling', as that implies some degree of cunning that most griefers simply don't have). The tribunal, and especially the fact that Riot reviews cases that look punishworthy (to prevent autopunish) means that they have to change their behavior.

People don't want to change their behavior. It clearly serves them so well in Halo: Reach and Black Ops, and unless you spend money in League of Legends, there's no "real" ramifications. Not to mention, some of the people disciplined by the tribunal go onto the forums and spread the idea that the system is flawed for reasons that have been disproven, and people end up believing them despite this.

More problems are caused by the fact that this community needs a Tribunal than the fact that it has one.

People hate the system because it works properly.

If you think we have a poor community *because* of the tribunal, what was the community like -before- the tribunal? Did we have a community of well mannered players who obeyed the rules, played a solid game of LoL and had no form of abuse?

If you look at it that way, it's nothing but rose-covered glasses. The very same people that end up on tribunal did this long before tribunal, because they are the same people that did it in every video game since the dawn of time, ruining games for other people because they can't be bothered to play it properly.
