To be honest I've never noticed any kind of connection-related advantage...then again I've never experienced West Coast ping (I live in Georgia)

THEN AGAIN I'm an East Coast Comcast user so the occasional complete disconnects and 500+ ping spikes I get sometimes are a little irritating

west coast IS the best, or the server would be on the east.

They put it there because that's where all the Asian video game geeks are.

I actually don't mind my ping in the 90-110 range as long as it stays there, but in most games I get spikes up to 500+ and it's quite irksome, especially when you're ahead.

Just for the heads up, we are aware of this as explained here by Riot Foro:

Even though they say latency issues will be addressed; they never promised us ping that will be competitive to west coast players. I would be happy with less than or equal to 45

I can't really speak completely on this, as it isn't something I work on, Foro says later on in the thread:

- ~100ms to the NA servers from the East Coast is something we can improve.

- Latency buffs are coming. We're working closely with the major Internet Service Providers (not just in NA, but in all regions) to have you connecting to LoL as optimally as possible. Time moves slow in Internet land as there's a lot of moving parts involved, but the aforementioned works are already underway.

- Further improvements are being discussed, including the possibility of distributing game servers in other locations than the West Coast. < This scenario would be a huge shakeup - and though we love challenges, we want to make sure that we pick the best solution that is going to improve everyone's experience overall, and get it right the first time.

Hope this clarifies things!

Foro out.
I do hope this clears it up a bit.

That's most likely an issue with your ISP or bandwith.
