So this is where you've been instead of logging on Dragon Nest :/

I was gonna then I got some issues with internet and such and I didnt get a chance to play it (was gonna start with some other guys). Eventually they told me "good that you didnt try it. Its ****". a former RO player, playing 2 was a risk.

also, saying "race variety" for FFXIV is lying to yourself.
whats the variation? The short person, the tall guy, the elf, the weird guy, the human...
no moogles.
no bangaas.
no nu mous.
nothin.
its same old, same old.

If it starts to pop up at the beginning of the game, it'll most likely continue until endgame. Class preference already starts for dungeons. Sorry, lancer & pugilist we want archer & thaumaturge. Also, don't forget this already has happened in their previous MMO FFXI, **** you Paladin, we want Ninja tank, etc for endgame.

Songs are a persistent buff effect on the entire party, or a debuff on the monsters. They are not there as "oh ****" buttons, they aren't going to save a party that's about to be wiped.

Having a bard that can regen mana and tp for the entire party is going to be extremely helpful for long fights.
They gave us the chance to play the Jobs in Phase 3 beta. All the bard feedback has been pretty much what I've said. Why don't you do some research on all the valid QQ on their beta feedback forums?

That's why I listed it as neutral. BTW, you experience all the starter cities when you go level alternate jobs.

@kaiseresc
I agree with the race "variety". I was grasping at straws and tried to find more pros. And yes those races are pretty bland like most mmos. When will I get an MMO that lets me play as a Centaur dammit!

@orphane Actually, I was busy playing Dragon's Crown instead of logging on Dragon's Nest.

Not really, since, ya know, this hasn't been the case in any MMO I have ever played. Definitely not set in stone.

Yes, they gave us the chance to play as jobs- but max level was 35. The Bard didn't have some of its good songs, nor did we get the chance to see end-game raid mechanics, which is where the Bard will be needed more than simple dungeons.

True, and you could do all the starter quests if you want. I did not. I'm saying, there's definitely a difference if you start another character.

Also lol@ WoW "diguising the quest grind well." GW2 disguises it well. WoW was terrible at it.

Uh, escort quests (go with your horde/alliance leader and take back Undercity), "vehicle" quests (I'm a cat die you kobolds, I'm riding this giant and stomping you), weird quests (the storytelling chain quests in Uldaman after Cataclysm. I'm a giant gnome, i ride a motorcyle with my ho...), sabatoge quests (go in and plant a bomb and watch stuff explode). Either way the variety of their kill x, collect y, talk to z quests has definitely made it last 10+ years. Can't say much for GW2..did that thing even last a year? =P

Since it's still going, I'd say yes, assuming it's been out a year. I forget when it came out.

But anyone who thinks WoW had an awesome leveling system simply has a fundamentally different definition of the word awesome. Agree to disagree.

WoW lasts as long as it did because people like that it's familiar, not that it's the best MMO on the market, because it hasn't been for a long time.

I haven't been this excited for a game in years. Played FFXI forever and have been getting very little sleep during the last few beta phases. Super excited. Unfortunately, I'll be on Adamantoise though.

Bard Fisherman yes please.

Have fun MWAB, I'll most likely give it another try a year later. But the state it's in currently feels quite unpolished. Then again, Wildstar comes out next year...so I'll be playing that instead.

Still going strong as far as I can tell. I don't play as much as I used to due to other obligations, but I do know that new content is released very regularly, to as often as every two weeks.

Pugilist checking in, also my net is dead at home so im typing some of this from work.. hoping stuff will be fixed by tonight...

anyway, pugilist gets a 1-2-3 combo with different abilities to use for each of those slots depending on the situation or what you need, your counterstrike ability has MORE than enough time to be used and continue to combo without losing greased lighting. It all comes down to timing. How are you supposed to apply/refresh touch of death if you dont even have enough time to use counterattack? you time it inbetween your combo its really simple.. I could even use ToD and CS inbetween a combo and be able to keep GL up.

as for cless' original post about all the other MMO's the only noteworthy one i saw mentioned was RIFT, which we already played as a community for a bit. I have played dragons nest and the endgame looked like nothing special at all nor worth the time investment. and i cannot comment on the other MMO's because i have not played them, which is why i was hoping koravel would take on the SWoTR argument (which he did XD).

As for WoW. its terrible.. Ive talked about it multiple times on stream about the leveling/"not repetitive questing". MoP did a good job of not making quests feel grindy but at the same time.. they felt grindy... go kill these 14 mobs, go collect these 5 herbs while killing these 14 mobs. heres a quick fun quest. ok back to grinding dailys and heroics for gear so you can raid now. grind grind grind grind.. is your ilvl above 359? no? back to dailys and heroics!

and yes Gw2 leveling was the BEST questing design i have seen from an mmo in a long time. you wernt required to kill then gather then kill. you could choose w/e one you preferred and do it until your heart filled up and with events happening it kept things very interesting.

excuse the grammer and english... typing from far away on laptop op
