Basically i downloaded the original .dmg file, open it, drag it into application folder.
Now, don't overwrite your original lol app. You should have league and league (2).
Open package contents of league (2)
now: Contents
lol
rads
system
now, for me, userkernel was the problem. Your original league userkernel file should have one of those paper/pencil icons instead of the league icon, meaning that somewhere along the line the userkernel file got changed (idk). Basically, drag and overwrite the userkernel from league (2) onto your original league package and overwrite, which will change the icon as well.
Upon boot, splash icon for original league will now open and game will open as normal.

Hope it works for you guys.
edit: Thank you!

I have the same problem when I try to open League, it bounces and then quits immediately. The UserKernel file replacement method doesn't work, because it isn't this 'pencil and paper' icon, it's perfectly normal. I don't care about waiting for patching and I have re-downloaded multiple times, but it STILL refuses to budge... I just want it to work already. Please help

Have you been able to open league in the past? Where did you install the game to? What OS are you running on?

OS X 10.8.3
I have it running perfectly on one account.
The other, the root account, which is the only one I have access to atm, has the problems.

I'm trying to find the correlation between working on one admin account, and not the other.

Right click on League of Legends.app, Get Info. Verify that all of the accounts you're using to play LoL have Read & Write access to the game.

Is the game stored in your /Applications folder, or in another location?

Every possible account has Read & Write access. Including "system" which is root. League of Legends.app is IN the application folder.

You're actually right. I just remembered this started happening right after i repaired the client.

I'm having this exact same problem as Shnel. I'm currently running the Boompje client which works, so i can still play, but the Riot official client will bounce twice and then close. What's going on here?

Right-Click on League of Legends.app and "Show Pacakage Contents".
Naviagate to Contents/LOL/RADS
Delete the folder titled solutions
Navigate to the projects directory.
Delete the folders titled lol_air_client, lol_air_client_config, lol_game_client, lol_game_client_en_us (basically delete everything in /projects except for lol_launcher!)

Open a new finder window and go back to /Applications. Right-click on the League Of Legends.app again but this time select "Compress League Of Legends.app".

This will create League Of Legends.zip. Upload this in the post if possible or post a link to the zip on an upload site such as https://mega.co.nz/

This will hopefully give us a broken install that we can tinker with to get to the exact root cause of this error. Thank you for your time and sorry for any inconvenience this is causing.

It's been happening on my mac too. Here's the mega link. Hope you guys figure something out. Thanks!

I was having the same problem ever since I started dual-booting my Mac. Turns out, LoL won't play on case-sensitive systems. I'll go ahead and assume that this isn't the issue for a majority of users, but it is a separate issue.
