I'd like to report a bug and see if there are any fixes besides reinstalling.

I know I'm supposed to upload my log files, but I'm not really sure how to upload them here... It doesn't work when try.

The problem is that the launcher won't open. I have it pinned to my dock, and when I click on it, it bounces once, has the little white dot underneath it to say it's working, then it just fades away and the whole thing closes. The League of Legends crest/icon thing doesn't even pop up. It may have something to do with what I did last night - After I'd downloaded the patch, whenever I clicked Play, a small window would open with Amu that said "fatal error". I looked online to see what people had said about it because someone I knew was having the same problem after the patch (on a PC), and what appeared to work was clicking 'repair'. That worked and got me in to play a few games before bed last night. Now it won't open at all when I click.

System specs:
Mac Book Pro 15" Retina Display
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics Intel HD Graphics 4000 512 MB
Software OS X 10.8.3 (12D78)

Edit: I've also tried opening it from within the League files as opposed to using the dock. Same result or nothing at all will happen.

Found solution, just in case anyone else has this same problem.

Go to applications folder.
Right click on League of Legends
Click "Show Package Contents."
Go to "Contents."
Go to "LOL."
Go to "RADS."
Go to "System."
"User Kernel" file should not exist and therefore missing.
Open .dmg file you used to download LoL (don't drag it into applications again, just open)
Right click on League of Legends
Right click to show package content, and follow the same route. Under "Systems" will be "User Kernel."
Copy and paste "User Kernel" to the "Systems" folder in your installed League of Legends.
Launcher should start now.

If you don't keep all your .dmg files, I would really suggest it just in case anything happens (like this) Just make a folder in your Applications folder and move all your .dmg's in there.

@RIOT, Please fix this bug that deletes the kernel with use of "repair"

Don't reinstall, just use what I posted there. Otherwise you have to download all of the patches again as well - you probably wouldn't get to play today.

Thank you for fix, Misty. This was a HUGE time saver. Was about to go back to using Boompje's client, but I still would have had to wait for that to patch.

Such a simple fix ... kind of annoyed that such a small thing hasn't been fixed yet.

Oh well ... stuff takes time, I know that.

Now to download the Zac patch ...........

I'm still confused you said "User kernel" should not exist and is missing, but it's there so it' not missing. I am so confused, I opened the dmg file and the Kernel was still there.

During the update process? Mine did this too and I finally figured out that it was happening because the client was unable to download any of the files. The client acted like they were downloading by printing out a list of them, then stopping on Zed, however when I checked the update log file (/Applications/League of Legends/Contents/RADS/rads_user_kernel.log, IIRC), it was actually reporting an error for all of them and each had failed more than once before the list made its way to Zed, where it would fail every time.

In my case this was because I was updating at work and the clients attempts to download the files over HTTP, but using an ephemeral port rather than port 80. That made my company's firewall think that it was malware attempting to download something it shouldn't, so the FW blocked it. You could be running into the same thing. This never happened with my windows client, which updated successfully at the same time as the Mac client was blocked by the FW.

It would be nice if there was an option to force the client to download over port 80 in situations like this.

Ah. The chinese government likes blocking stuff too. I'll try repatching when I get back to my awesome internet at home in the US with no government firewalls ;D
