In the real world, it would really suck to lose your license -- getting to and from work would be hard but doable. You'd have to carpool, walk, bike, bus, etc. But if you were thrown in jail, you'd lose your job and probably a lot more -- basically your status quo would change a lot. By removing IWD from the pro scene for 1 year, it's a pretty different punishment than an account ban -- his current life up to the moment was as a LoL pro; the ban is a huge shift in punishment and his status quo.

Again, not saying he shouldn't be punished, but for the first implementation of a pro player scene suspension, 1 year is pretty huge.

The problem is that HIS JOB IS TO DRIVE!!!

If your job requires you to drive a car, and your license is suspended, guess what? You can't do your job any more. Same thing here.

His job is to play LOL, he can't do it without being an ******, so he is suspended from his job. Same way someone who can't drive without being an ****** would be suspended from their job driving a vehicle. He can get another job that doesn't require playing LOL (driving), they aren't stopping him from doing that.

Punishment for cheating at world championships: $30k fine. No ban. No tournament dq.
Punishment for raging in solo queue:. 1 year ban from competitive play.

If you really can't wrap your head around it.. that's your problem, not anyone else's.

Repeatedly ignoring the code of conduct for a game that pays you to play professionally is the reason he is "out of work" now. He deserves what he got, being one of the top 0.7% worst offenders in the game. That takes some *very* vile and nasty behavior, as anyone knows from the "community" that you frequently see in this game. Less than the top 1%. Wrap your head around that. You don't get paid and appreciated by the developers or fans if you choose to go that route. Banning him was the right thing to do.

If you're talking about "cheating" as in "turning your head around to see a huge map behind you" that was a one time incident and was very much the fault of the tournament organizers as well. No one should have been banned for that, and a fine was completely befitting of the situation. Again, you need to take some time to wrap your head around it, obviously.

I know the League community revels in it's ability to be the walking amalgamation of "The Greater Internet ****wad Theory", but sooner or later you're going to have to learn how to grow up and have a shred of dignity and sportsmanship, especially if you expect to compete on a high level.

There also have been repeated incidents of similar behavior outside the game.
Good thing you are monitoring his behavior outside the game as well. Ridiculous.

Punishment for ghosting a player streaming: Doesn't exist.

They cheated at the world championships by ghosting, so technically should they have not been penalized at all because we don't punish players for ghosting streams? A $30k fine is very reasonable for this once it was too far ahead in the series to have a rematch.

If you're paid to be a professional, you better expect eyes to be on you when you are at a tournament. Playing or not. This isn't candy-land, your actions have consequences, whether you like it or not.
