My theory is that the teamwork ribbons are also often weighted against friends (so if you duo queue and your friend honors you, you get the point but it doesn't really count), repeat honorees (if you end up with the same person in multiple games, the honor counts less with each one), and people who honor-spam (every game, honor four people, don't earn honor themselves).

It's also possible that giving honor points helps; if you're constantly honoring one or two people in each game and receiving honor, it's better than if you're just receiving honor without giving any back.

And again, of course, you need to be honored in most of your games.

The leader one is a combination of all three ribbons; if you have that one, the blue is implied. Therew are fewer people who SHOW the blue ribbon, but everyone who has a gold ribbon has a blue, too.

Thus:

People with Blue visible < People who own Blue

Don't you mean the number of honor required is much higher? Probably based on the theory that less opponents are going to honor you than teammates? Because I understand the theory but it would seem that about 80% of the people I play against/with, including me, have honorable opponent

The Honor totals displayed in your profile are not the sole factor in determining if you've earned a Crest. It is based on other factors such as the source of the Honor and how consistent you've been in earning it.

For example, one could slowly earn 200 honor in each of the teamwork / friendly / helpful categories over the course of [insert long time span here] without ever earning a Crest. Later, they could start receiving the Honorable Opponent type of honor, and, if they are very consistent, earn the Crest with a much lower number than the other categories.

(The numbers in this example were randomly chosen. Your numbers may vary )

Would playing bots dilute your "honorable opponentness" then? Or customs (ARAM)? Like if you were to take a break from normals/ranked.
