How do they work, lore-wise?

Judging from snippets in the champ lore, they're basically tickets that Summoners pay to champs in exchange for their service, and which champs can cash in for money and/or other things. Is that right?

In the lore, the concept of influence covers a wide range of potential things. They could be favors, promises of support, IOUs - whatever the summoners decide on. It also can represent wealth and physical possessions - things, both tangible and intangible, that helps promote a summoner's personal agenda.

essentially the IP value written on the client is the arbitary value of the summed up money, favors, influence, connections, goodwill etc. that hasn't been put to use yet, as I understand it.

Speaking of points.

Do Riot Points have any lore? Or is it there for looks?

I would be surprised if it was, as Riot isnt an organization in the setting and the process of getting it lacks a lorewise equivalent. How could it fit in when we have such a broad and useful concept like IP?

Imo Riot points are, We "Donated" To the League. Thus we get League Influance points.
Its like regular IP.
Only Better.

this reminds me of "profit factor" in Rogue Trader, which if nobodys familiar with it it's a table top rpg based on the Warhammer 40K lore
