click start -> run
type in cmd
hit enter
in the command prompt do the following
(only works in xp unless you have installed the telnet client in vista and win7)
telnet beta.lol.riotgames.com 2099

The screen should go black or it will tell you it could not connect

Next do the same again except do
telnet beta.lol.riotgames.com 5223

Once again the screen should go black if its able to connect.

if you cant connect with either do this
ping beta.lol.riotgames.com
You shouldnt get a ping but the address should resolve to 66.151.54.140
if you still get stuck go to and try out http://kb.leagueoflegends.com/questi...ic+DNS+Servers

Tried the telnets, tried ping. Never got a response from either.

Updated the DNS, still no dice (same error).

Sigh, maybe I was just not meant to play LoL anymore until my normal laptop gets fixed.

Really want a fix on this. Affecting an entire network of players at my school, only happened post-patch.

Yea this is messed up, if I cannot ping your servers I think it is a server side issue as I am able to connect to any website and play other online games.

Amends, you don't happen to be in the Philippines by chance? Just wondering if they somehow blocked Asian IP addresses.

This is probably caused by restricted access to your internet connection. There are certain ports that need to be open to gain access to PVP.net.

If you're running the game from a shared network, like a college campus, you may have to contact the school IT guys to allow access to these ports.

You may also have a firewall or anti-virus program blocking League of Legends. The settings will be specific to each firewall, but if Windows firewall could be the problem for you, you can use the help guide below.

Hi Mr. Perring I've disabled my firewall in services and for my Wifi/LAN (still have VM's that will use it for connecting to a work VPN).

I can add all of the ports as exceptions, but that seems redundant after disabling a firewall completely.

I still cannot ping your server (and subsequently login).

Looks to take the same route each time, with almost no change in time to get there.
Fails at the server though, which seems strange.

has anything changed on your computer, network, internet anywhere? something is killing your port connections.... I want to say use wireshark, but it can quickley become overwhelming if you are not familiar with it.

Yea my whole laptop changed.

My one I normally use went to shop due to monitor death.

This is my work laptop, dell running windows XP. More than likely it is due to restrictions placed on here, but I cannot find them (I am an administrator and could change them if need be).

More than likely the issue cannot be fixed easily at this point. When I get some information from my colleagues about a VPN I can connect to i'll see if I can run the client then. It is probably not easily possible, so you don't need to work on my end anymore. However, if these other people are having problems then they I hope they throw their feedback here as well since I don't think they all work for the company I work for :P

Wireshark looks interesting, though, I am not really inclined to try to maneuver through it.

Well thanks Mr. Perring and reapermaster, I'll just suck it up and not play LoL until I get new laptop/fixed laptop.
