Why is ARAM so popular?

It's just silly fun for the most part instead of trying hard to win even though normal and even ranked can kinda be like that. I personally hate ARAM and prefer ARAB because it's so similar but faster paced to due naturally getting gold and levels faster(aram takes awhile to ramp up), but that's just personal taste I did love aram in dota and probably would play it in league if arab wasn't here

Haven't tried on the new map yet though

It's just a lot of fun.

ARAM (and its variants) feel a lot less serious than normal League games. Moreso than other custom rulesets, though, it pretty much promotes ridiculousness by its setup. You play champions you'd never play otherwise, and just learn to deal with whatever situation the game has set up for you. You get completely unbalanced teams and all sorts of unexpected situations when team compositions come out that would never 'work' in a normal game - but it still feels familiar, all the same.

It's a bit hard to describe, I guess, but really, ARAM in general just feels like League players aiming to have fun and relax. You're generally not judged if you're playing a champion you've never played before, because it's never expected that anyone is a champion with whoever you are using. The pressure's off.

I have about 6 champs that I consider myself good with. And when I'm playing any other game mode, if I don't pick one of the champs in my rotation, and I do poorly, I feel bad for letting my team down. In ARAM, i'm forced to play champs that I don't normally play, and for me, that's fun.

Is that silly? Probably.

Map awareness isn't a problem, and you can just have fun, unless of course people decide to cheat or something. Proving Grounds eliminates the cheating aspect though.

Personally I like it because it gives me a chance to try something new, it's generally shorter and faster, and people are more chill and rage less.

Personally, I find ARAMs particularly enjoyable because it's much more combat focused and well as somewhat self-balancing for broad ranges of skill levels. There is still the potential to get an imbalanced team, but generally speaking the random champion factor can help compensate for skill differences between individual players.

For this reason, I find that I can jump into ARAM games even with my less-than-skilled friends and end up having a good time (Except perhaps when I get Fiddlesticks...I am a legendarily bad Fiddlesticks)

it also makes tank eve viable, that was one of my most fun games in a while. Being a scout, checking bushes without worry, and with that slow can get a fleeing champion. And getting focused, because I was eve, and not being killed.

I just played an ARAM yesterday where the enemy team had a 2200 against our highest 1700. He got Eve.

GG.
